Fearless 2017 Round 15 – Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap, Bon Scott’s words ring out around the AFL

FEARLESS 2017 Rd 15 – Dirty Deeds done dirt cheap, Bon Scott’s words ring out around the AFL.

The Demons might well need to change their entry song onto the MCG for a home game from AC/DC’s ‘Hells Bells’ to ‘Dirty Deeds’ after what Tomas Bugg did to Callum Mills. After a week when the AFL went after a verdict to be overturned… gee some people don’t think. The incident set the tone for the Dees who started well only to go downhill after the Swans came to play… then Viney got injured… Ouch!

Nathan Vardy stand tall! Despite a mighty whack from paid commentators everywhere… a winning goal and two timely defensive contested marks within the dying minutes to ice an Eagle win in Melbourne. Bevo’s Bullies fell back into bad habits as the Eagles began to realise what’s at stake in season 2017. Darling 3, Karpany 3 useful in forward 50, Gaff 42 stats. Eagles led mostly to a 7pt win.

Custard Crows flew to Melbourne to take on the Blues at the G on Saturday. The blues started slowly and worked their way back into the game but always seemed to be chasing. Liam Jones’ resurgence continued on Tex, leaving Jenkins, Betts and Knight to fly the forward flag for Adelaide. Ex-Crow Kerridge held Sloane well and got plenty but the Crows capable of holding on and they did by 12pts.

North flew north to the Gold Coast to partake in Gazza’s 300th. Helping Gazza to 37stats was ex-Crow Lyons with 39 and Swallow Jnr with 27. Young Roo Mountford, Gazza’s tag, got a real education into how to dominate at the elite level. Suns do it for Gazza by 19pts, North patchy and their day summed up by defender J-Mac ripping a finger tendon in a pair of Suns’ footy shorts… then Waite injured too.

The season’s first draw as Tomahawk missed right on the Buzza! Young Wylie kicked two, as one of three kittens to debut against the Giants… another Guthrie and the Cats version of SOS (Simpson). For GWS debutant Finlayson the ecstasy turned into knee agony. A close, tight tussle it was for the whole game. Danger got a lazy 45stats and a goal and Selwood’s absence was filled by Menegola. Patton 4.

The Blowing in the Wind Cup took Richmond to Port Adelaide. Fox’s Gerard “Aretha” Healy wants Richmond to now be spelt R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Rance tagged by Jackson Trengove…yes a full back tagged! Novel, but astute, given the defender’s stellar form. Port may live to rue inaccuracy and the negative energy lost as the Tigers, powered by THAT final, stormed home. 8.2 to 3.4 after the 1 /2. Butler 3.

Dumb said Dons’ Skipper Heppell… that might be the whole problem. On paper, Bombers had a far better side on Sunday at Etihad against the Lions. But any team turns up to a game thinking it’ll happen, go through the motions and win… think again in 2017. Reality check, young “Rafa Nadal” Hipwood kicked 4. Lions claimed an unlikely 8pt away win. Is Don Is Not Good. Wicked Lester kicked the sealer.

Both Hawthorn and Collingwood have had mixed years in 2017. The Pies broke their Hawk hoodoo earlier in the year and looked like doing it again at the last break. Hawks though dominated forward time in the last, reducing Magpie forward entries increasingly to desperation. Bucks has reformed De Goey, but a Hawk 6 goal to 2 last qtr left the Pies chasing Hawks all over the G on Sunday. Hawks 24.

Forget counting the man-buns and tattoos on both teams, forget the history of Ross Lyon transferring clubs, forget the history between the two clubs… the last quarter of the Freo-Saints game at Anchor Park in WA had it all. Michael Walters stamped himself a superstar and nearly won Freo the game, but Josh Bruce and Tim Membrey up the other end had different ideas. Saints win away and into top 8.
