Executive Networking with Susan Alberti AC: Kicking Goals in Business and Life

What a year for Women’s Footy and diversity on and off the field

Lyn Campbell-Anderson is one of our writers in The Women’s Footy Almanac 2017  and is also one of the volunteers on the Women In Mining (WIMnet Vic) committee – a not for profit organisation. WIMnet Vic provides mentoring, sponsors initiatives for graduates, coaching, and networking opportunities for those working within traditional masculine industries. Its mandate is to break down gender and cultural barriers.

The AFLW, the more visible presence of women’s footy and personalities, the connections between communities, has bought Lyn’s two passions together.  Her love of footy and Susan Alberti, and her passion to change drive change across all industries!

WIMnet Vic have a major event coming up and invite any who are interested in supporting their ongoing work or are interested in hearing their tenacious guest speaker.  This year, Lyn has organised a woman who needs no introduction to the Almanac community:

A little more about WIMnet Vic:

Women in Mining and Resources Network Victoria (WIMnet Vic) is a voluntary, not-for-profit group which supports, advocates and seeks to empower women who work in the energy, minerals, mining and natural resource management sectors by hosting professional development, panel forums, networking events throughout the year.

They also support women by raising awareness for increasing the representation of women in the sector through social media, by providing mentoring programs and in 2017 extended their efforts to launch financial support for female university students in STEM disciplines.

WIMnet Vic is a state group of the AusIMM Women in Mining Network (WIMnet) and is aligned with the vision:

  • For 25% of mining and resource professionals to be women by 2020
  • For all participants in the industry to be treated fairly, equitably
  • For the industry to be admired for its people and leadership

The mission of WIMnet Vic is to facilitate development and networking opportunities to promote empowered, informed, connected and confident participants in the mining and resources industries.

Established in 2017, the WIMnet Vic Supporting Education for Women Program (SEWP) serves to further support the advancement, education, personal and professional development of females in the early years of a university degree in a resource-related discipline.
