Crio’s Racing: Under the pump and looking for some mail

Although I am going to Moonee Valley on Saturday, I must confess to having seen none of the fields and harbouring no desire to study/punt on the anticipated “modest conveyances”.

Even the wonderful Royal Ascot has been off my radar at this uncharacteristically busy time – and, I suspect, local coverage has reflected the absence of “Aussie challengers”.

So I’ll be looking for a push if I’m to get involved this week.

Some observations that might be worth monitoring – R. Laing is back. Saab Hasan’s are going OK. Gelagotis got one up on Wednesday so they might be a stable to watch. Weir is relentless.

This is also the time of year to spot a good “claimer” who gets under the handicapper’s gaze – any suggestions?

Shoulder to the wheel for me at the mo – but always with an eye out for any tips.

Good luck!

  1. I forgot it is Tiara day in Brissie…often pretty good

  2. You are not the only one not interested in the races on Saturday but I do note some of the Victorian Trainers have some local races in their sights (Terpsichore with no form to speak of being an interesting runner in R4)
Its been showery all day so far and I will leave Jock to give a better update on Adelaides weather and wait for his tips on a very hard day (but then again it is Winter Racing)

  3. I like Turfane in the first here.

  4. Oges, I tend to do my best work after a few beers but have had a bit of a look in Adelaide and a few look to have good chances at EW odds.
Dee Dee Nine in the 5th a chance, worked overtime last time out and could get a soft run behind the speed this race isn’t hard.
Langridge Street in the 7th went OK first up and form 2nd up is a little better, should go Ok if not too wet.
I was also quite keen on Hill Spy in the 3rd at the Valley, just hoping it’s not a front runners paradise ( rail out 6 meters), Il Cavallo has made its previous run look OK. Also like Pillar of Creation in the 7th.

Jock, you were very stiff last week, couple of absolute snowies that jus t got bloused.
Crio, might run a small double in the first couple, Turfane into Hai Lil.

  6. Oges, there’s a paucity of even half decent hoops over here today – your man is on some sneaky chances at fruity odds. Have a nibble.

  7. Will do as he has given up probably a full book at Horsham for the city
