There are still a couple of Saturdays where Morphettville hosts good races before all of the focus heads up to Queensland.
Tomorrow the SA Derby has G1 status (AR8, 2500m, 3yo, SW) and, though 4 and 8 are favourites, I’d prefer the top two or even the filly Scratchy Bottom.
The main support race is a 1200m G2 (AR6)…make or break for Miracles Of Life, now piloted by Dean Yendall.
Hawkesbury hosts the main NSW meeting this Saturday, a ripper card highlighted by their Cup (SR6, No4) and Guineas as well as a good sprint and the Darley Crown (SR5, 1300m, SWP, F+M, G3). Nice to get away from Randwick!
Queensland’s best fixture is the Gold Coast with strong prizemoney for a really well balanced card on Prime Minister’s Cup Day. The G2, 1800m A.D.Hollindale Stakes is the feature and Junoob and Streama lead the betting. Good fields.
Down in Melbourne it is a pretty typical winter card at Caulfield. For Quaddy obsessives try 2,10/2,6,8/3,6/1,5.
Good luck!
…actually, Editor, Tuesday and Wednesday were poor but Thursday offered some respite for the satchel swingers in Warrnambool. The Steeple was a great result. Akzar a total wipeout. The remarkable Glaneuse a bonus. Nearly a chop out over all (minus expenses).
The best week of the year…take it ahead of Flemington, Oakbank, Moonee Valley.
Be wary of deteriorating track at Morphettville with heaps of rain impacting track for tomorrow.
Reckon you are way off the mark Crio, surely the incredible insight from some 14 year old third rate soapy hack in the Lavazza tent, gives HQ the edge for quality!
And just when you thought you couldn’t dislike the Waterhouse clan anymore, they raise the bar with a paid political for the Libs.
sorry i never got a chance to catch up with Oges at the Laurel, tried but just missed.
No worries Cowshedend I’m back in Melbourne often as there are Grandies to guard and races to attend. Terrible day here with lots of rain so will be slowing down tomorrow and Goolwa trainers now wary of the track
Sounds like Captain Crio still has a kick left after a big week
Stunning looking horse Miracles of Life, back to its best in Adelaide, great turn of foot in the last 300
Cowshedend – re: Robbie Waterhouse….I was speaking to a Club official who’d been fairly sympathetic to the Waterhouse bids but had changed his views over the week. Robbie fielded upstairs on tuesday and then left a sub to finish the Carnival as he sauntered to Wagga. Goodwill gone.
