“Good teams find a way to win”
“Winning’s a habit”
Familiar cliches, but so is the notion that “we’ll learn a lot from that loss”.
This Michael Jordan quote is on classroom walls nearly every school I visit:-
“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
Winning or losing as lessons in sport (and life)?
Another disappointing loss for the Bulldogs last week. On the face of it you would say it was a case of a good team ( Freo ) finding a way to win.
But with a new innovative coach at the helm of the Bulldogs, his reaction was, ” There was just a couple of things we got wrong today and I’m very proud of the boys’ performance against the top team.”
More importantly, he went on to say his team will learn a lot from that loss and that is why I agree with the Michael Jordon philosophy.
