Citrus Bob Wants You!: Lang Lang Football Club History

Almanac stalwart Bob Utber is writing a book and he seeks the assistance of fellow Almanackers in the gathering of information about the history of the Lang Lang Football Club.

Citrus Bob wants you!

I am in the process of completing a book on the history of my original football club – Lang Lang. This has been no small task but we want to make the book a definitive chronological history of the club.

I wish to appeal to readers of “The Footy Almanac” for information, however small it might be, about the club.

In particular I am looking for photographs, press clippings and all sorts of memorabilia that may have something to do with the club.

As part of this process we are compiling a list of ALL players who may have played with the club since 1895.  If you know of relatives or friends or mere acquaintances who may have played with the club I would be delighted to hear from you.

Historically the club commenced playing in 1895 and unfortunately has not been a great success on the field having only won four premierships in that time. The club has produced six players who have played VFL/AFL.  Jim Priestly and Gordon “Butch” Reid (Geelong), Marcus Glasscock and Eric Donaldson (Melbourne), Geoff Jones (NM) and David Donaldson Jnr. (SM).

If you are able to assist could you please contact me on my mobile 0407 51 3357 or email sportweb@net2000.com.au to discuss further.

Apologies . That should have read Jim Beasley who played with both Geelong and Essendon. Many thanks to
Bob Cartland from Geelong for his wonderful pics of “Butchy” Reid.
