Cam Hooke’s Collingwood Life – Round 2: Talking Points

True believers,

After a rusty loss to Geelong last week, there was a lot to like about that.

First win for the season.

Most possessions ever conceded by Richmond in 125 years. Five pies players with over 30 possessions, not one Richmond player over 25.

I think (someone told me in the crowd that) we had the third highest number of marks for a game in the history of the AFL.

De Goey 5 goals.

Moore at CHB.

Five Richmond players not having one tackle.

Three end-to-end goals. Winning possessions by 150+.

Cox’s fourth quarter goal dodging numerous Richmond defenders.

Outside 1.50 in the second quarter, we kept a dynamic Richmond attack to less than 50 points in 78 minutes.

The fact that we beat Richmond by 44 points with plenty of room for improvement.

But the thing I really liked was that we controlled the tempo of the game really well. Many times we kicked it around and waited for defensive holes to arrive, other times we did a full oval press, which to me shows we have full confidence in our playing system.

A great night, only soured by news that Lynden Dunn re-injured his knee first game back. That was aweful to watch.

Great effort by the boys and now it’s onto West Coast next week.

Go pies.
