Cam Hooke’s Collingwood Life 2016: Dancing with your sister

G ‘day True Believers.

A ‘quickie’.  We’re still in pre-season, anyway.

I saw an interview on-line with Pendles that I haven’t been able to find since.  He addressed the intra-club game (like dancing with your sister), the identification of him as the sole ‘elite’ player at the club (very well answered in terms of the ‘whole team’, not individuals) and the season ahead, including Bucks’ future (get it out of the way to prevent a media circus).  If anyone can find it, drop it in the comments below please.  It is worth the time to see it.

The intra-club match was fun (‘dancing with your sister’ seems an apt description).  Watching it “live” on the website is very clear evidence on what a great job commercial TV does covering games during the season; yep, it was pretty ordinary, particularly the commentary – they could have had a true professional commentator – Eddie.  For what it’s worth, good performances by Gault, Moore, Jesse White (one of my faves – not), De Goey, Caff and Varcoe (both real faves of mine).  Match report at http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-02-18/youngsters-excel-in-intraclub-hitout.

The List for the “practice match” against Geelong is interesting:  In: Aish, Howe (uncertain).  Missing – Pendles, Reid, Langdon, Williams and Cloke – resting?  Reid’s absence is a bit of a surprise; the others not really. Treloar, Goldsack and Scharenberg – all recovering. Elliott is out for a few weeks – unlikely to make Round 1.  And Dangerfield will make his first appearance in the Blue hoops.  Tagging job – Adams / Caff, pity Treloar isn’t fit?  Watch for Cox, Aish and Howe (if they are playing) and newbies, Phillips and Smith.  The List – http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-02-24/collingwood-name-29man-squad.  And a bit of a heads-up: http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-02-23/five-reasons-to-look-forward-to-friday.

– Pre-season Fact Sheet.  And if you are interested in the pre-season competition, and our place in history, go to http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-02-23/collingwoods-preseason-fact-sheet-2015.

– Names: Daicos & Brown.  Recognise the names?  Father-son radar – http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-02-23/daicos-and-brown-on-fatherson-radar.

– And who in the AFL hierarchy decided Victoria Park should lie within the Carlton recruiting zone; and Glenferrie oval in ours?

C’mon, stand up and be counted.  What is your prognosis for the season?  Welcome your views.  Love to hear others’ views.  Where do you think we’ll end up this year?

Everyone, welcome to 2016.  Our opening NAB Cup game against Geelong at Kardinia Park – tomorrow night; 30 days to our Round 1 match against Sydney.  Is anyone going to Geelong?  We’d welcome some on-site comments, highlights and low-lights – areas for improvement?

Go Pies.

  1. Cam – I’m constructing my top 8 for season 2016 as we speak. I currently have 12 teams in the top 8. The Pies are in the mix. But who misses out from 2015? The Roos? Tigers? Maybe Freo?
