Book Launch: Derby

 G’day Knackers one and all.

Well the greatest rivalry in footy (Dennis Cometti’s words not mine) has taken on another life. A book of 41 die hard rusted on Eagles and Docker fanatics.  If you are in Perth on the 29th of April at 3pm get on down to the Subiaco Sports bar (its that seriously ugly grey box in between gates 1 and 26). The Golden Tonsils (aka D Cometti) is launching it. Wear your colours.

Cheers, Sean & Dave.

‘The State is divided. It’s not life or death, it’s more important.’

So says a poster on Dennis Cometti’s wall – and that’s what David Whish-Wilson and Sean Gorman found when they interviewed 41 fans of the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Dockers.

The book features Dennis Lillee, Luc Longley, James Baker, Shaun McManus, Clive Mercer, Kim Scott, Julie Bishop, Fedele Camarda, Maria Camporeale, Kevin Croon, Jesse Dart, Ron Elliott, Les Everett, Alison Fan, Glenis Freemantle, Maria Giglia, Mark Greenwood, Gaby Haddow, Julie Hoffman, Adrian Hoffman, Greig Johnston, Justin Langer, Deanne Lewis, Lesley the Voodoo Lady, Alsy Macdonald, Carla Mackesey, Ross McLean, Ian MacRae, Kia Mippy, Peter Mudie, Jeff Newman, Gillian O’Shaughnessy, Melissa Parke, Parsi, Janet Peters, John Prior, Matt Quinn aka Mr Q, Glen Stasiuk, Bill Sutherland, Bevan Taylor, David Wirrpanda.

‘At last, from footy’s Wild West, a book on one of the must-sees of the Australian football calendar – the Derby!’ Martin Flanagan.

  1. Dennis Gedling says

Good luck with the launch guys and within the glamorous surrounds of the Subi Sports Bar no less.

An Almanac meet up the night before EVERY Derby has to become an event (says a Geelong supporter).
