Almanac Footy: AUFC – Fred ‘Chocka’ Bloch Past Players Day 2025

Adelaide University Football Club had its Past Players Day last Saturday. It’s now called Fred ‘Chocka’ Bloch PP day in honour of the greatest Black of all, the man who brought the whole club together and drove the bus re equality thru out the whole club. It was awesome to have the Bloch family in attendance.

There were many Premiership reunions. It was special to have 5 members of the 1965 flag present and others from that era – thank you Peter Crossing for your help chasing players up. The 2015 Women’s Premiership side was also well represented. We had gents in their 80s down to Eddie Dadds who is 30.

The day was a huge success with 115 for lunch at the club’s Gold Sponsor The General Havelock Hotel. Migrating to Beautiful Uni Oval, the large crowd helped Uni overrun Brighton to win convincingly 15-15-105 to 9-10-64. The highlight being the loud and vociferous singing of the Bob Neil national anthem in the last quarter.
