AFL Round 6
Round 6 witnessed the Giants flexing their muscles against the Hawks and showing that lack of contested possession will hurt you against a quick running opposition (GWS), Kangas hopped over the gritty dogs and finally supporters showed up in numbers. It is a welcome sight to behold when the blue and white are out in force. St Kilda remain Melbourne’s bogey team with a 13th straight win where Hogan and Membrey put on a goal kicking display, Adelaide finally pulled away against a Freo determined to bring back tight contested footy while the Crows just wanted to run and score. Port did what many didn’t expect, win although it was against a toothless tiger outfit. Geelong showed off against the Suns and scored a big margin, Swannies held on against a determined Brisbane side that with more accurate kicking could have pulled off the second upset of the round. In a low scoring and ambivalent game, Carlton finally outscored Essendon although the Bombers did make a match of it at the end and West Coast doubled the Magpies score in a contest that tantalised only the West Coast supporters.

A-League: Grand Final – Battle for the Dunny Seat
Adelaide has been given the Royal Dunny seat for which to sit on the throne of A-League Football. In a game of perennial losers (in GFs) one of the two sides was finally going to break the drought with a GF and it was the team of Bruce’s that prevailed.
You could describe the match as one of two contrasts, Red for Adelaide and yellow for the cards (4) that Western Sydney collected. Adelaide scored the first two goals. Western Sydney fought back hard to score in the 58th minute only to see the Red close the game in the 90th minute.
Adelaide v Wanderers 3 : 1
Reds: Kamau B. Isaias Sanchez P
Wanderers: Neville S.

Boxing
Almanac’s own Zac “Dynamite” Dunn scored a comprehensive knockout victory against Les “Lock and Load” Sherrington in three rounds on Saturday night.
Remaining undefeated with a record of 21 fights with 17 knockouts, Dunn must surely be close to fighting for the WBC super middleweight world title. With power body punching, Dunn proved too strong for the Queenslander.
