NRL
Round 2 and Sharks pump Dragons, Storm too good against Titans and Billy the Kid to miss a few more games. Eels get across the line against Cowboys in a rare win, Bunnies pound poor old Knights, Broncos on song against Warriors and Bulldogs take the choccies at Penrith to ruin their celebrations, good on you doggies, everyone loves a party pooper.
New rules seem to make the game faster and a heavier injury toll, will they make it to the end of the season in one piece?

Six Nations Rugby
With an Australian Coach, England Rugby Union have managed to win their first Triple Crown in five years, beating Wales in a tense, hard fought thriller at Twickenham 25 – 21. With France’s defeat by Scotland, England claim the Six Nation’s Trophy and a win against France next week will give them their first Grand Slam since 2003. Cycling – Bendigo Madison
A time honoured tradition! I just love saying that phrase and in this case the Bendigo Madison has been rolling around Tom Flood Reserve on the oddly built outdoor velodrome on Labour Day weekend since 1972. In an oddity of today’s sport, the Madison also shares the Park with Pro Running and the prestigious Bendigo Gift, see results below.
Women’s Madison: A. Edmondson, J. Mundy
Men’s Madison: C. Scotson, D. Fitter 2016 Bendigo Madison, 2016 Australian Madison and 2016 Bendigo Madison Champions, great effort!
Not a bad effort for Callum Scotson, in the past three months he has won the Australian Madison Championship, Australian U23 Road Championships, member Australian Team Pursuit Championship, World Cup Gold and World Championship in the Team Pursuit. Will he make the Olympic TP team with this effort?
Big shout to Victorian Kelland O’Brien who finished 3rd with partner Matthew Ross while still a junior, albeit also a World Junior Champion with Rohan Wight. One to watch.
