About Les Everett
A Footy Almanac veteran, Les Everett is the author of Gravel Rash: 100 Years of Goldfields Football and Fremantle Dockers: An Illustrated History. He is the footyalmanac.com WAFL correspondent and uses the money he makes from that role to pay for his expensive websites australianrules.com.au and talkingfrankie.com and fund the extravagant Vin Maskell at scoreboardpressure.com
Les – Good to see you continuing the time-honoured WA Almanac tradition that the crap team buys the beer and snags for the Xmas drinks and local book launch. Thank god Simmo turned my boys around, Gorman and Zampatti were drinking me out of house and home. Speaking of whom, it was (almost) worth the price of the drinks to hear those two outstanding raconteurs hold court on all matters football, political, sociological etc etc.
Grand entertainment every year (book your Uber home in advance). This gathering is open to any Almanac readers who will be in Perth on the 16th. You don’t have to be a published writer in the book or on the website to come along. I know I have invited a couple of Coffin Cheaters who barrack for the Eagles to come along and admire Les’ renovations.
Drop Les or I an email and we’ll fill you in on the details.
Lots of Almanac books for sale and collection on the night. There’s the Xmas shopping done. You know it makes sense.
Be nice to relax at an WA Almanac wind-up without the whiff of mouldy Nic Nat fright wigs and framed pictures of Fat Cat with a couple of blue and yellowy footballers working off an hour or two of community service visiting some children’s ward.
I guess we’d better bring our own booze to this one, though, Sean. We don’t have Baulderstone to kick around any more.
It is lucky I have a new Dan Murphy’s up the road from me nearly completed. PB I thought Troy Mercanti had defected to the Finks? Or was that drafted by the Eagles? I keep forgetting. See youse there.
Will be there again to provide the balance in the force between Eagle(s) and Dockers but if okay I’ll be playing radios until 7 so would be late. If this will cause grief will pick up from Bedford at a later date.
Saw both Shaun and Les at that Sports History talk on the WAFL a couple of Mondays ago but had to leave straight after Cowan’s talk so couldn’t say hello. Dorrington getting up and talking his usual attention seeking shit at the end I found nauseating too.
Looking forward to catching up with you fine gents (and hopefully ladies) tomorrow night. Dennis, you’re not suggesting that Grant Dorrington – as much as I liked him when he played for the MIghty Royals – will somehow materialise at the Almanac launch?
