Ta Pete, I wonder which VFL/AFL Grand Final featured the most first year players?
Looking at your list it may be the three in 1993 when Essendon beat Carlton, but you’d imagine it may be higher.Again looking at those same pair of sides, Carlton v Essendon, they clashed in the 1968 Grand Final: reverse being the opposite of 1993. I’m counting five first year players in the 1968 encounter.
Carlton; Brent Croswell, Neil Chandler.
Essendon: Geoff Blethyn, Robin Close, Bruce Lake.
Possibly more some where out there but I just thought I’d throw that into the conversation for starters.
Glen!
