Almanac Teams: Almost Brownlow Medallists

The Western Bulldogs’ Scott West [Source: Author]

This week’s side is a team of players since 1980 that have finished in the top three in the Brownlow without winning it. I was initially going for a side of runners up and team of third placegetters like the Rising Star award, but it was going to be too hard with a complete lack of defenders. Preference in the side went to players that had more than one top three finish, with Josh Francou due to balance the only multiple top three finisher not in the starting 18. Next priority apart from balance was given to those who finished runner up and a priority was given to Matthew Richardson to be on the bench just because I love him. Please do not take the side seriously as you can play any players from the others into the starting 18 and it will be still very good. Enjoy.
