Almanac Sport: Geelong Sports Museum – Media Release: Opening Day

This media release from Jessica Reid at Kardinia Park provides further details and information regarding the Geelong Sports Museum opening that Roy Hay previously alerted readers to.

Afternoon all,

I am delighted to let you know that Geelong Sports Museum will open to the public tomorrow, Thursday 13 June from 10am.

There has been a great deal of work over the past few months to install artefacts, graphics, and interactives. After some time testing, we are ready to share this wonderful new attraction with the people of Geelong. Opening this week gives us time to understand how our visitors interact with the stories and space before school holidays in early July. During the Cats v Hawks match on 5 July, we will also open to ticket holders from gates open until quarter time. This will be another great opportunity to spread the word about the museum.

We are yet to confirm an official opening event and will keep you informed as plans progress.

We take this opportunity to thank you all for your generous support for the museum, through sharing your stories, loaning us precious objects, helping us develop the content and offering your expertise and skills along the way. When you visit, we hope you are just as proud of the museum as we are!

We look forward to welcoming you to the museum soon. In the meantime, please explore our beautiful new website, and follow us on Instagram and facebook, for all the news.

Jess
