My pledge to be positive about racing in 2016 faces an early test as a bankrupt Queensland Industry presents the obscene MM meeting from the Gold Coast. I don’t despise fantastic prizemoney, but these are not necessarily outstanding fields and it is hard not to reckon that the locals would rather that the riches were more widely spread. However, it is a promotional tool for MM and comfortably the pick of this Saturday’s options for national punters….on a Heavy9! (upgraded to Soft6 today – Thursday). The feted 2yo “Classic” has a shorty that might be a beauty in Capitalist. Lucky Hussler looks the benchmark in the Cup which appears to be the pick of the card.
Elsewhere the racing is plentiful but quality scarce. Down here picnic Cups are run at Healesville on Saturday and Alexandra on Sunday and, with predicted beautiful weather, they’re my recommendations for racing fans in Melbourne.
Early tips I have are for a couple of Weiry’s – He’s a Moral in Caulfield R5 and Waxing in the first in Adelaide (D.Yendall up for you Oges!).
More to come.
Good luck!
bet of the year (so far) is All Eights in the 2nd last at Morphettville, brained them in a Gawler trial then won its maiden by a lazy 8 lens, currently $3.50 but may get better due to a wide draw but has the pace to overcome that.
atta boy Jock…need your push.
btw- start planning for the ‘Bool
i Se Steel Trigger i s running tonight. I’l take him like one normally does, though i missed hims winning run at the Valley, more out of faith than conviction.
Golden Spin in the fifth art Caufield is good young type. The fact that a friends husband is part owner, also i picked him to win at Caulfield on 26/12/15 are certainly factors. He was my sole 2015 winner on a track that i s my bete noir.
There is a five race non-TAB meeting in Corowa on Saturday but the town is booked solid for the big regatta at lake Moodemmere. Next Corowa races for me will be the Cup in March.
Happy punting,
Glen!
No ‘Bool for me this year. Have South Africans coming in March so all annual leave will be used up, I’m concentrating on winning the golf challenge with a home ground advantage
Jock, no drift on your tip, into 3.1 betfair, great price 3.50, booting it home.
Crio, most overrated meeting of the year MM, more flogs per square foot than even the birdcage on cup day.
Well I was happy seeing Steel Trigger placed last night. $3-50 a place wasn’t to be sneezed at, though the U-Bet $4-90 a place was a good return
All eyes on Golden Spin today.
Glen!
Always good to get a bank from Friday night Glen.
Jock – soft @3.6 for all eights
I’m having a decent weekend. Two of my faves, Steel Trigger and Golden Spin have got me some $$ back. Now can Crackajack do the same ???
Glen!
