Almanac Racing – Crio’s confession…no idea and no ideas

I am, as an old mate of mine used to declare “as busy as a Beirut bricklayer”.
Like the Adelaide racing Carnival, I’m in the spotlight for a bit and then searching for a torch.
So, for this week, I’ve not even had a chance to look at the fields.

I know it is another fairly lowkey Saturday, especially down here in Melbourne.
Nationally, Qld is still the focus.

The Gold Coast host the last of the G1s but the rest of their meeting is not up to the annual standard.
The Tatts Tiara (R7, 1400m, F+M, WFA, G1), however, is a beauty. Logic demands we avoid Catkins until she finally breaks through. Srikandi, her main rival, has drawn 19 slots wider than for her Stradbroke victory. This might be a result race.
Internationally, Brazen Beau lines up for G1 glory at Ascot tonight. I’ve only caught glimpses of the UK racing but have seen the results. Knackers at last year’s lunch should have cashed in. Humble, knowledgeable, sober and able to wait until asked his opinion (thus clearly a “blow-in”), our guest speaker (UK Handicapper) told us that Ryan Moore was the best jock in the world. What a Carnival he is having. Rode half the card again last night and 2 at double figure odds (one with a Waterloo omen!).
But no-one wants another “shoulda”. I’m heading to the Valley tomorrow afternoon and am happy to jump on board any tips proferred.
Good luck!

Will be a pisser tomorrow if Randwick is called off, and no vision of the valley.
also looks to be a bog at the Gold Coast

  2. you can save all of your emnity for the Doggies tmrw night!
Great how the VRC are “above” racing…again!

  3. I’m keeping it simple.
Be on Politeness in the Tatts Tiara, it loves a rain affected track and will get speed on which it needs.
May try Henwood in the last in Melb and I’m keen on Lucky Symbol in the last in Adelaide.
I’m not going to be happy viewing the Valley on the laptop.
Best roughie of the day is Carlton.

  4. Thanks Jock…will certainly try the AR get out.

Huge crow about Net Wealth sunday for Price.
best for the weekend is the to date kickless Josh Hill kicking 2 skunk goals in the last 1/4.

  6. fingers crossed that Amy Herrman is OK

  7. I’m with you crio, poor weekend of racing.
Cracker of a race the Tiara but Lumosty really gets her chance here, given no hope in the Straddie and gets right gate here and can see her just going Bang here! Stablemate Politeness a chance if able to run on but track can tend to favour leaders. Knockouts for the multi’s are Hazard and Peron.

  8. In extremely sad news, Takeover Target has passed away overnight after suffering an accident in a paddock.

Bought for $1,250, the champion sprinter raced 41 times for 21 wins and 10 placings, amassing over $6.3 million in prize money. 8 Group One wins in 4 different countries. RIP champ!

  9. Happy to bet on Avoid Lightning (rarely beaten on wet), Peggy Jean and Tarloshan in the Tiara.
