Almost ten years have passed since that glorious day
When we went to the G to have our say
We’d waited so long, 72 years in fact
That so few believed we could give it a crack
We ran through the banner, Two Cities One Team
With Bloods new and old – Together – Living The Dream
We wished and prayed that our dreams would come true
To witness a miracle seen rarely, by so few
We’d waited too long since ’33 – our last win
When most of us Bloods were yet to be seen
Our South years since then had not seen success
Our life-blood was drained and we were a mess
So they sent us to Sydney – to save us they said
And to hope that our great game of footy would spread
It did for a while for those north of the border
But nothing much happened except much disorder
We fought and fought and fourteen years later we made it
To the top of the ladder, showing plenty of grit
We played in the Grannie and proved we’d arrived
Though ’96 would leave us oh so sadly deprived
Roosey took over to the cheers of Bloods old and new
And we knew we could make it if we stuck like glue
We lost in the Prelim to the Lions in ’04
But we dreamed of success, wanting more and more
’05 arrived and we finished third on the ladder
We played the Eagles in Perth but ended up sadder
Until Nick kicked those four goals – a miracle indeed
Getting us to the Prelim against those Saints with speed
Oh how we smashed them, no-one thought we could do it
We showed ’em, we proved it, we had that Bloods spirit
Seven goals in the last to their zip – what a quarter
We made it to the Grannie – oh my god what a snorter
We arrived in our thousands, red and white to the core
To see our champions strut their stuff and put foot to floor
We fought and we fought and our dreams were high
And we all stuck together after each nerve-tingling sigh
Amon put us in front with not too long to go
Followed by cries of oh god, oh shit, oh hell NO
Please Bloods, please do it for all of our sakes
Oh Leo you star, Oh how our hearts ache
That day will be remembered as our greatest victory
We laughed and we cried and remembered our history
We did it, we did it, Sydney and Melbourne together
Go the Mighty Bloods, we’re joined as one – forever
HERE IT IS!
