Journey into the Underworld

(for Rusty)

The Stygian gloom
of your toilet bowl
makes me ask the question:
do I really need
to cross that river?

(Note – Stygian: connected to the River Styx in Greek mythology, a river that formed the boundary between Earth and the Underworld.)

(Acknowledgement: first appeared in my third poetry collection, Orpheus in the Undershirt, Ginninderra Press, Port Adelaide, South Australia, 2018.)
