Almanac/Odd Friday Lunch – May 17 with George Megalogenis

 

George Megalogenis is a Melbourne based journalist, writer & political commentator.

He was born in Melbourne in 1964, studied Economics at Melbourne Uni, and joined The Sun News in 1986. He became an economics correspondent for News Limited before moving to The Australian in 1991 where he became a feature writer. He was in the Canberra Press Gallery for 11 years.

 

Since 2012 George has been back in Melbourne focused on book and documentary writing, as well as being a regular on ABC’s Insiders. He has written and presented a documentary series ‘Making Australia Great: Inside our Longest Boom” and a documentary tribute to Malcolm Fraser “Life Wasn’t Meant to be Easy”. He has written a number of books – most famously “The Australian Moment” which won the 2012 Walkley and the 2013 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for non-fiction; Don Watson described the book as “likely to become the essential short work on modern Australia”.

 

He has most recently written “The Football Solution: How Richmond’s Premiership Can Save Australia”, and is a mad tigers fan.

 

Along with John Harms, this will be another entertaining Footy Almanac / Odd Friday Lunch.
