Almanac Music: Vale Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys – a musical genius
Summer has ended
Brian Wilson, a musical genius and great of our times, has sadly passed away. Along with Dylan, Lennon and McCartney, and Jagger and Richards, he created the soundtracks of our lives and has left a legacy that will live on forever.
A fitting tribute from The Age this morning reflects the life of Brian Wilson.

About Colin Ritchie
Retired teacher who enjoys following the Bombers, listening to music especially Bob Dylan, reading, and swimming.

Great tribute for Brian Wilson. The Beach Boys was right up there with my favourite groups growing up. God Only Knows if there will be another band like them in the future. Their melodies sounded great.
Early rock & roll was weary of the 27 club.
Seems like 21st century RnR needs to beware of the 82 club. Here’s a list of those who have died this year, aged 82:
Colin Earl – piano player for Mungo Jerry
James Muir – percussionist for King Crimson
Larry Tamblyn – vocalist for The Standells
Sly Stone – frontman for Sly & The Family Stone
Brian Wilson – frontman for The Beach Boys
That’s very sad news about the 27 and 82 club.
Let’s hope that the great Bob Dylan who’s just turned 84 on May 24, 2025, lives to 100! Wouldn’t It Be Nice!
Brian Wilson still had a good innings and I know it’s also to do with the quality of life too, as well as the kind of lifestyle, good or otherwise, that they led when they were at the peak of their powers.
