Almanac Music: The Stereo Stories Gazette

What’s been happening at our partner site Stereo Stories lately?

Mark Schwerdt, known to all and sundry as Swish, has penned a story about the Go-Betweens’ song Surfing Magazines. The story is a short ode to road trips, ageing and summer.

The Stereo Stories Band is currently rehearsing for two shows.

Our first show is our first visit to the Queenscliffe Literary Festival, on Victoria’s Bellarine peninsula.

We’ll be there on the last of the festival’s three May weekends: Saturday evening 27 May at the Queenscliff Town Hall.

As well as stories from the Stereo Stories band, the show will feature guest writers Katherine Kovacic, Toni Jordan, Jacinta Parsons and Brian Nankervis.

We’ll also be returning to Williamstown Literary Festival on Friday 16 June (with Smokie Dawson on board, of course, alongside Andy Griffiths and others) and Write Around The Murray in Albury on Saturday 16 September.

Meanwhile, our website (which bears an uncanny resemblance to the Almanac site) continues to tick over quietly, with finely-tuned stories specifically focusing on the theme of ‘a song, a place, a time’. Recently we’ve published personal stories about songs by Bonnie Raitt, Mario Lanza, Aslan, J Geils Band, and David Crosby.

Thanks for listening.

Thanks for the update Vin. Great to see that Stereo Stories continues to thrive and has handled the frustrations of Covid disruptions. NO doubt your gigs will attract Almanac readers as well.
