Almanac Music: Stereo Stories’ final show for 2024
After concerts in Williamstown, Geelong, Albury and Queenscliff, Stereo Stories concludes its year with an intimate acoustic gig at Tempo Rubato in Brunswick on Saturday evening 30 November.
Guest writers are Annette Trevitt (author of I Had a Father in Karratha), Lucia Nardo (author of Messy Business) and Darren Smokie Dawson (author of the Swifty Taylor series, and so much more here at the Almanac).
Band members Martina Medica and Gemma Keating will also be narrating stories and director Vin Maskell will chime in with two of his own.
And the songs that circle these stories, the songs that weave through the narratives? Let’s just say the songwriters in the set list include Cave, Kelly, Harrison, McCartney, Fripp, Springsteen, Webb, Mraz and Zevon. Plus a Marlene Dietrich song. And a French song recorded by Tim Buckley, among others.
Expect a quiet, thoughtful evening, featuring grand piano, accordion, cello and intricate harmonies.
Tempo Rubato is mostly a venue for classical music (string quartets, grand piano performances) and occasional electronica music but it has kindly taken up our approach about performing there.
We look forward to seeing you on 30 November as we take our show in a slightly different direction.
