Almanac Music and Cinema: Telek with David Bridie in concert, and at MIFF

 

Long time Footy Almanac friend David Bridie is in a gig at Memo Music Hall with George Telek – a rare appearance for him  and the first time since his mouth cancer and since Covid.

 

Telek is also in Melbourne for the launch of the film about him and David occurring during MIFF. Details for both events are below.

The album, recorded in his hometown of Rabaul after its destruction by the Tavurvur volcano in 1994, reunites Telek with his former bandmates from Painim Wok. Joined by the legendary guitarist Sir John Warbat, drummer Henry Maniot, and bassist John “Pooger” Yass, Telek weaves a tapestry of Melanesian harmonies and instruments, creating a truly jubilant musical experience.
