Almanac (Local) Cricket: Pomborneit Cricket Club 2020/21 Season- October Review

Welcome to our October review, keeping you updated on all the happenings at the Pomborneit Cricket Club, published with thanks to John Harms and the team at footyalmanac.com.au.

SECOND WOMEN’S TEAM

The attendance and enthusiasm at our women’s team training sessions has far exceeded the club’s expectations, so much so that there was no other choice than to enter a second senior women’s team into the 2020/21 competition. Pomborneit will be made up of our first choice players, Pomborneit ‘A’ will be a development team with a mix of younger players and players new to the game of all ages.

POMBORNEIT ‘A’ CAPTAINCY APPOINTMENT

The club is thrilled to announce that Belinda Lenehan has been appointed as skipper of Pomborneit ‘A’. While new to on-field action, Belinda has supported the club her whole life, and with her husband Wes a previous Division 3 captain, and sons Luke and Daniel past junior captains, her appointment sees that entire Lenehan family as Pomborneit skippers, a wonderful achievement. But Belinda (nee Boyd) has far more leadership in her bloodlines. Her father Jim Boyd captained the club’s 1988/89 premiership and was selected in the club’s team of the century, her grandfather Doug Boyd captained the club in 1956/57 and is a Pomborneit CC life member, her great grandfather A.J.D.(Albert) Boyd captained the club’s first ever premiership in 1926/27, while her great great grandfather James Alexander Boyd played in the first Pomborneit team in 1883 and played regularly during the first two decades of the club’s existence.

Comments

  1. Hi Luke and all the PCC community,

Great to have you back on the Almanac site now the sun is shg and cricket is under way.

We love publishing these reports and notices as those who take the time to flick through, or even read closely, are reminded of what goes on in a local club.

All the best for the 2020-21 season. We look forward to hearing more.

    Go the Bulls
    JTH

  2. Just knowing that cricket is underway, with the full season ahead, is a joy, and something to really look forward to. Good luck, Luke, and simply because your team has the same colours and name as my Qld team, Go the Bulls!

  3. Good work skipper

  4. Good to see that you’re in form with both bat and ball, Luke.
You were certainly busy playing for both Division 1 and 2 in Round 2.

  5. Belinda Lenehan’s bloodlines are amazing.

Re Luke “Crackers” Reynolds: I am reminded of that line used to describe Derek Randall when he took a blinder of a catch…”You just can’t keep that man out of the game!”

  6. Luke Reynolds says

Cheers JTH. Wonderful to have cricket back.

    Thanks Jan, Go Bulls!

    Good stock those Boyds Rodney.

Pete- not quite that busy, Round 2 of Division 1 and Division 2 were on different weekends!

Smokie, the Boyd bloodlines have produced many, many magnificent cricketers at Pomborneit.
