Almanac Life – Fun Runs: Support the Arrow Stem Cell Transplant Foundation

I have enjoyed getting to know Graham Lewis over the last couple of years. You will remember, he wrote a terrific history of an unusual cricket club; a substantial piece which generated a wonderful reaction among the Adelaide cricket fraternity, but especially among those who played for Teachers. (Perhaps we could organise an Almanac event around that, Graham?)

Graham is a terrific writer and is working on various projects.

He’s also running in the City to Bay for a very good reason.

You may like to support the cause.

CITY TO BAY – GREAT SOUTHERN REDS
On 21 September, as a two-time stem cell transplant survivor, I’m tackling the 12 km City to Bay Fun Run with the Enable Fitness team.
The last time I ran the City to Bay was in 1979, as a 16-year-old in Year 11. A few days before the run, I bought a brand-new pair of runners—a mistake, by Anzac Highway, my feet were so blistered that I was forced to finish the run barefoot on the grass median strip.
This time it will be on my Alinker walking bike to support the Great Southern Reds’ efforts to raise funds for the Arrow Stem Cell Transplant Foundation as a part of Blood Cancer Awareness month.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to provide comfort, care, and practical support for patients and families undergoing gruelling high risk SCT’s.
If just 20 people chip in $10 per km, we’ll raise $2,400—a quarter of our goal. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.
I’d really appreciate your support. Post your pledge below or just donate the Great Southern Reds
