The world spins on tight finishes
The ones that take so long to get to
Like the Dig Tree.
Five thousand five hundred meters, thirty-three fences
A bob on the line. Photo.
15 Round Split Decision. Both fighters with closed eyes.
Five Day Test. Last ball boundary in the dark.
Tie Break in the Fifth Set. Cramping on the hotplate.
Four days 72 holes and a sudden death playoff.
What price a birdie?
At the Railway, after Oakbank
14 tails in a row before the head turned up.

Five points down, a kick after the siren.
Thanks, Pards. Always enjoy your poetry. Oakbank is such an evocation although I think its star has dimmed considerably.
Thanks Mickey. So happy a smiling face like yours enjoys my work. Agree. The name of the town is not as evocative anymore. It’s staying under the radar. A secret delight, like a hidden laneway bar. Like a surf break. More than 10,000 on the first day last year.
Thanks Ian. That kick is torture.
