What is the role of sport in promoting basic human rights?
The Human Rights Law Centre along with the Wheeler Centre will be examining this question on Thursday 5 May.
We can think of society’s expectations of sports people, the ideas of equality and diversity in sport, and ideas of sporting boycotts in the face of political ideology.
Panelists will be:
– Hugh de Kretser of the Human Rights Law Centre
– Beverly Knight of Alcaston Gallery, indigenous Australian support and the first female director of Essendon Football Club
– Belinda Clark of women’s cricket and trailblazing.
