The Ballad of Darcy Moore

( to the tune of ‘By the Time I get to Phoenix’)

 

By the time I get to Perth, the Covid cases will be rising
And Chairman Dan will be on a stand demanding more
And Eddie McGuire will be apologizing
I’m not sure what for. It’s such a bore.

 

By the time I get to Brisbane it will be midnight
I’ll have to find my bags and my room
Then its a 2a.m. Conference with with my agent
On Zoom. I’m so sick of Zoom.

 

By the time I get to Adelaide, Brodie will be broken.
He’s too proud to admit it but it’s plain to see.
And we’ll find a way somehow to scrape a win
But it’s just the Crows. Everyone knows.

 

By the time I get back to Brisbane, I’ll be knackered.
What sadist dreamed this up? I’d guess he never played.
And we’ll get touched up by the Dees and a rampant Petracca
And the umps’ historical malice will be displayed.

 

By the time I return to Perth, I’ll be angry
But I’ll still try to play with daring and grace,
And I’ll be happy if we can just pip the Eagles
And save face. And not be a disgrace…
