Almanac Footy: Luke Reynolds Champion Cricketer, Champion Sire

Almanac regulars are familiar with Luke Reynolds’ grand cricket career at Pomborneit, to say nothing of his outstanding off-field role – coaching, public relations officer and indispensable club booster.
This note is to communicate that his son Joshua was part of an all-conquering South Colac team in Colac & District Football/Netball League Under 14.5 grade. After an undefeated Home and Away season, they defeated Western Eagles in Saturday’s Grand Final 59-32, to be crowned premiers and champions. Joshua featured with 2 goals and was listed in the best players. Congratulations Joshua and Luke (and also a shout out to the dam).

About Peter Fuller

Thanks Peter! A wonderful day and truly memorable season.
I hope to post some words here on the four year journey that lead to Saturday’s win by the end of the week.
Go South!
Being a great dad/parent is one of the things I admire most in life. Easy to be a “success” in work, money and external trappings, but a failure at home.
A bitter but important lesson that I took a long time to learn. Many blokes don’t.
Almanackers like Luke, Swish, Smokie, Dips, JTH, et al – and their family related stories and attitudes are a large part of what keep me reading and embracing the Almanac ethos.
Thanks for sharing Old Blue Stager.
Outstanding. Congratulations Luke. And Joshua.
Coming up on Friday Luke?
“Champion Cricketer, Champion Sire”
Champion Bloke
Well done Josh & Luke
Hope footy didn’t interfere with Cricket pre season
Look forward to seeing you Friday Dips, Smokie and Rodney.
Congratulations Joshua! Well done Luke in setting down the template as a role model figurehead not only for your family but also for everyone else you are associated with in the sporting field. Your leadership, empathy, and good nature are all to be admired.
Great work Joshua even though you barrack for Carringbush. Like others have said the family environment is so important when it comes to success in life be it work, sport or just social.
Thank you Peter F for making us aware of this important stage in Josh’s life and also fellow Knackers for your responses.
We are a very caring lot us Knackers and some of us don’t even barrack for the Pies.!
Well done Joshua and Luke. Excellent work. Thanks for the update, Peter.
Well played Peter F, Luke and Mrs R and of course Josh.
How did Gavin go this year Luke, he was going alright when we last spoke?
Thanks Old Blue Stager.
Hats off L & J Reynolds.
That COVID home-schooling Collingwood syllabus clearly reaping rewards.
Perhaps it could be rolled out more widely.
Cheers Col, Citrus, Mickey, Swish and ER.
Swish, Gavin had a decent season in the Under 18’s, though missed a few games with injury niggles. He still has two more years at Under 18 level.
Awesome Josh and Luke ! Normal service has returned if you go to Pomborneit and there isn’t a member of
The Reynolds clan present please ring the police and do a missing persons report!
Seriously underrated the amount of work South Colac has put into revive its junior program.
When I was top age of under 18s they forfeited the season after three rounds and were dead last in the under 14.5s.
It’s due to do the work of people like Luke that they are where they are now.
Congratulations on the season to all involved.
