Almanac Footy History: Carlton’s 1970s windfall from the Bendigo zone

During the period 1969 – 1985, the Carlton Football Club recruited many excellent players from the their country zone, the Bendigo Football League.
Many players made the journey to play VFL footy with Carlton and served the club well.
The Spirit of Carlton people (Shane O’Sullivan) organised an event in Bendigo to pay tribute to the players from that era, and as a result it encouraged Jack Coyne to produce a You Tube clip featuring many of the players primarily from the 1970s to remind Carlton people just how they benefited from their zone in this period.
Carlton fans, and all footy fans, please enjoy Jack’s clip highlighting some wonderful Carlton footballers from the 1970s.

Thanks Jack for your article, really great memories of all these players. Some were superstars and some were solid contributors and some were just fringe players, but all part of our brilliant history. Fantastic choice of music too.
