The Ashes 2019: Call for writers

Edgbaston starts tomorrow night (our time). If you intend to do the night owl shift, are you interested in penning a few words? If so, just make a comment below.

Alternatively, join in the conversation on our live blog, which will be running from just before the toss.

We call upon the collective opinions of the Almanac to contribute their thoughts. It would be a shame to let all those late nights go to waste.

The series schedule is as follows:

First Test – August 1st to 6th at Edgbaston.

Second Test – August 14th to 19th at Lords.

Third Test – August 22nd to 27th at Headingley.

Fouth Test – September 4th to 9th at Old Trafford.

Fifth Test – September 12th to 17th at The Oval.

If anyone is planning to actually attend the matches, we’d love to hear from you (Marvin Vaas, where are you?).

We will be making further calls at the time of each test, but if you especially want to write about a particular game now is the time to stake your claim.

Sharpen those pens (or typing fingers).

Our writers are independent contributors. The opinions expressed in their articles are their own. They are not the views, nor do they reflect the views, of Malarkey Publications.

Do you really enjoy the Almanac concept?
And want to ensure it continues in its current form, and better? To help keep things ticking over please consider making your own contribution.

    Will do ball-by-ball from Lords.

  2. Been looking at the batting form of both sides. Nominations for Days 1-3 only please. Rain alternates accepted.

  3. Am really looking forward to the ashes. Whilst i haven’t the skills to give a running comment on each day’s play (still learning how to use my PC) I promise to add my comments about the play and also about other writer’s comments. And expect comments about my comments (please don’t be too harsh).

  4. I shall be in Leeds.
Will attempt to file a report or two.

I will be at Lords and Leeds on a CATO tour organised for the SACA.. However I cannot commit to contributing as I have no idea when I’ll find the time!
As an aside I will declare, as an interested investor in this series, I am very happy that the four I wanted in the squad have been picked. Hopefully all four will play in Birmingham. They are Bancroft, Wade, Pattinson and Siddle.
Apprehensiveand excited about my first cricket tour. Checking out London for 5 days beforehand and Leeds for 3 days after as well. Then on to Panorama BC via Calgary to catch up with my son for eight days.
I am, indeed, a lucky bugger!

I’m here at Edgbaston John, so will endeavour to file a couple of reports. Fantastic day of test cricket yesterday. I’ll remember Smith’s knock for a long time.
