Friday night gave the stage to the Carlton veteran Chris Judd to say I’m back from the hameo with 26stats. Same goes Levi Casboult with 4 goals and a mark of the year chance and Mitch Robinson 3 goals and no brainfades. The game however saw the injury blighted Hawks take 3.5 qtrs to shake off the Blues. Hawks home by 28pts.
Saturday at the G, Hayden Ballantyne showed his Freo teammates the way with 6.1. The Tigers produced a more consistent effort too but the difference in class was noticeable at the end. Ex GWS player Anthony Miles showed the Tiger faithful he was worth his pay by 30stats in his 12th game. Tigers better, Freo too good by 20pts.
Buddy gave his critics the boot by producing an awesome last qtr as the Swans held off Port in a memorable game at the SCG. All Swans games should be played there. Homebush is sandy crap. 41000 at the SCG marvelled at Buddy and his teammates held off a late Port charge to win by 4pts. Schulz and Goodes showed their worth.
Nicky NatNoo shrugged off his critics who tend to forget that he is still only 23. The Eagles got smacked by injuries prior to their game against the other Coasters, the Sunnyboys. With Dean Cox a late out, Big Nick reminded all of his super ability. The Gold Coast nearly stole it, but the Eagles held on by 3pts, despite big leads at times.
Jonathon Brown reminded all of his courage in Brisbane’s game against the GWS at the Gabbatoir. Another concussion might mean the end of the champ but the body will make the decision. Tom Scully racked up 30 stats for the GWS and Callan Ward led well as the GWS made a statement. We’re not easybeats. Giants easy by 45pts.
North Melbourne made their first trek to the Adelaide Oval but surprisingly forgot their forward line. Sam Kerridge and the JPod made statements as did Eddie Betts who kicked the goal of the year whilst outside the boundary line. Amazing stuff! Not that it mattered, Crows a statement by 6goals. North again on the rollercoaster ride.
Geelong made a statement by belting the Saints by 97pts on Sunday at Corio Bay. Humanity might’ve suggested the Saints faithful didn’t have to endure this but the young players will ultimately benefit. Josh Walker made a statement to the Cats faithful. I can do 3 goals at this level. Matt Stokes 36stats. Saints’ Ross an uncut gem.
The Bulldogs made a statement after being baked by the media all week. People seem to forget that premierships take 8 years to build. The Dogs walk the path like everyone else, sometimes good as in today…an 8pt win over Collingwood rates as their best performance of 2014. Tom Liberatore a statement. I’m better than DAD!
Essendon made a statement: bad kicking is bad football. 27 scoring shots to 18 will cut the Essendon faithful as the Demons won by a point. Do the Bombers need to suffer anymore? Zaharakis nearly won the Dons the game – 4 goals and 31 stats. Christian Salem a statement for the Dees: give me the ball and I’ll nail the winner.
I thought Matt Watson made a huge statement in the first quarter. ” what the hell am I doing out here”
That’s a lot of statements Fearless.
Hi Fearless
I’d hardly say it took the Hawks 3 and a half quarters to shake the Blues. For a quarter and a half (Second and Third) the Blues fought the good fight (even hitting the front) but the Hawks had them easily covered in the First and Last, as well as pegging Carlton back and regaining the lead going into the Last. The Blues best quarter was the Third but even then they couldn’t make the Hawks pay for it.
Cheers

– I think you have to go entirely formulaic like you have in the last few paragraphs. Team statement then Player statement – This could be the Almanac equivalent of the AFL site Sliding Doors page.
Statement Fearless that Watson and Chaplin should be standing each other in about a div 5 ammo game spot on reminding us , Nic Nat is only, 23 , in Nic and buddy we saw the 2 most freakish athletes do amazing things . Statement this was the round footy needed . Thanks Fearless
