Queen’s Birthday games between these two teams are always great to watch, where one of the game’s great rivalries between Melbourne and Collingwood battle it out on a Monday afternoon in the middle of the season. The Demons had won the last four out of five after just losing last year‘s game. Rain was predicted for the game, as well as cold weather, which continued another Queen’s Birthday tradition.
I woke up and early and took the train to Federation Square for the pre-match festivities. Unfortunately, some people at Federation Square had come to protest about student rights or something like that. I was relieved when I saw that Jim Stynes and Dean Bailey were there, along with some players like Ricky Petterd, Jake Spencer, Jordan Mackenzie and James Strauss. Dean Bailey was interviewed about the team’s chances for the game, but he revealed little and didn’t say whether Jack Watts would start on the ground or not. At 11:30, hundreds of Dee’s supporters (but not as many as last year) walked from Federation Square to the G. Many flags were waved and colours were shown. I got into the ground just before 12, and waited for the game to start. A reserves game was on the ground, between two girls’ teams, obviously because of the Women’s round, which is stupidly placed in the Queen’s birthday round, which is meant to be a themed round in itself. The score in the game was about 121-0.
The Dees came on to the ground, and a tall, skinny, 18-year old wearing number 4 named Jack Watts also came on to the turf for the first time. The crowd was building and Collingwood won the toss and kicked to the city end. Jack Watts came to the bench. The game started, and, for a while it looked possible that Melbourne were going to run the Pies over. But this was only after Paul Johnson missed and the score was 1-0. Lockyer then kicked a long goal for the Pies to put their first on the board. The Dees missed a couple of chances at the other end and Didak, Swan and Anthony kicked consecutive goals to put the margin out to one I couldn’t see the Dees really coming back from. Jack Watts came on to the ground about half way through the first quarter, and he immediately got the ball and was tackled illegally by four Magpies, awarding him a free kick and his first possession in AFL football. Watts racked up a few possessions quickly and nearly kicked a goal, but it just bounced across the face. Brad Dick kicked a couple of late goals and all of a sudden the margin was 42 points at quarter time, 0.4.4 to 7.4 46. The full Olympic stand around me looked puzzled, the Demons looked like they had no confidence and it looked like the margin could blow out.
The second quarter didn’t start any more kindly, Tarkyn Lockyer kicked his second and it was 50 points. The Dees than gathered some composure and momentum and kicked three in a row, but Watts wasn’t in any of it. He just had one possession for the quarter and wasn’t getting in the right positions to get the ball. Collingwood led by 31 points at half time and the Dees needed the first few of the second half to have any chance. I ate a meat pie and hoped a comeback would occur. It started raining heavily in the third quarter and the Dees were now hanging on by a thread. Dick kicked his third for the Pies at the 10-minute mark to follow up with goals from Didak, Davis and Pendlebury. Matthew Bate kicked one from outside 50 for the only Demon’s goal for the quarter. Goals from Anthony and Marty Clarke saw the margin turn into 62 points at three quarter time, 6.9 45 to 16.11 107. Now it was certain that the Demons would lose the game. It reminded me of the 2003 Queen’s Birthday, when the Demons lost by 56 points and it was also raining. That game was followed up by four consecutive Queen’s Birthday wins for the Demons, however.
The last quarter was a boring one, with the game already over and the conditions very wet. Watts got a hand pass or two but didn’t do much more, and young Magpie Brad Dick continued to show promise, kicking goal number four and five in the last quarter to confirm a rising star nomination. Colin Sylvia kicked Melbourne’s two goals in the quarter, and he had been Melbourne’s best on ground. The siren went and the Magpie fans sung their song against the Demons, for the second time this year. Jack Watts’ debut had been a bit under par, but you can’t expect fire from a first gamer. He had just looked a little out of place and when he moved deeper in to the forward line he just couldn’t have an effect. Hopefully he can have a big game in two weeks against Essendon. And I hope the Dees beat Collingwood next time.

Sorry, guys, a thread change was neccessary.
Here’s a blast from the past
Yup, the day the awful truth was realised…Jack Watts is a hack.
Haha Steve has an ad in his report.
Yeah, you wouldve seen that before if you’d bothered to have read it!
Thats funny Michael, a few days earlier Terry Wallace coached his last game
Anthony 3 goals!
thats my BABYBOY!!! :)
4: It wasn’t their when i went through and read your reports a month ago.
That game between Richmond and Bulldogs had the best first half in recent memory.
who cares? Dick was the standout performer in the forward line.
Yeah I remember, it was 12.2 74 to 11.6 72 at Half time
7- :(
So, Dick kicked 5!
9- :( :(
Steve……. :(
I don’t get why your upset with me! Jack’s a good player, but Dick was the standout, im telling the truth!
7- who cares?
I CARE!!!!! :(
12- Sorry honeybird
13-…. :)
thats okay Darlingdee
Get a room.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/the-big-bounce-a-new-foty-show-is-set-to-kick-off/story-e6frf9ix-1225836753604
Last time i attempted a centre bounce the ball came straight up and hit me in the face.
ohh i read about that!
lmaoo i was thinking of doing a gangster one LMAOO
lmaoo that reminds me of soemthing jack said in that video of how to kick properly.
something like
practice and one day you and me could be playing in the forward line together-
you could imgaine what i thougt….lol soo baddd!! lmao i couldnt help it….soo badd!
ive been doing a few good bounces lately
Thanks for the apology Danni, I welcome it with open arms
Lol, i laughed at how many times i watched the Ben Graham introduction video of how to kick a Torpedo Punt. Then after he left, Gary Ablett took over the role, and said word-for-word what Graham said in the previous videos. Since when is Ablett an expert about Torpedo’s?
19- lol but i felt so baddddddd lmaoo
i was like “playing together in the forward line eyy?? HELLLLLLLLLLoeeeeee, i wouldnt mind that!”
LMAOOO so badd
I CANT WATCH IT WITHOUT THINKING THAT!
Hey guys, did okay at super8’s but for the first time in ages im sunburnt :/
20: It was meant for boys only! Lol
I pride myself on being able to run and bounce the footy, not many kids on the Waaia team can do that.
22- Gee is that why you lose so many games?
22- OHHH NO Joshy, i didnt see it that way! ;)
SOO BADDD!! lmaoo
imma watch it now.. lmaoo yes i downloaded it!!
you guys wouldnt notice this but hes got a fit bum!!! :)
Haha maybe
22- All of us Katunga blokes can do that. :)
24: Ohh now i get it, and yes, i did notice that. Lol
26: Who gives a shit.
28- Us lol, can’t wait for actual trainin to start.
Danni, your missing the point of the video, he is trying to teach us how to kick goals and he makes some good points to improve our kicking style
27- omg did u think i was talking about playing ‘footy’ LMAOOO noooooo LMAOOO
hahahahha so badd..i really cnt help it.
and when he goes up for a set shot while u guys are staring at the goals im checking out his hawt derriere!! :)
30- Steve i know that!! and im happy to play in the forward line with Jack ;)
wink-wink
Where is this video anyway?
Danni, i hate to say it..
Sorry Danni, girls cant play in the AFL, itll never work out
its on Youtube
its called how to kick a goal the correct way.
hate to say what??
steve..IM NOT TALKING ABOUT FOOTY!
Yeah I don’t think Gary Ablett has booted a torpedo in his career at Geelong, Ben Graham was the master once I think he kicked it 86 metres.
I’ve been watching a DVD on the ‘Hillsbourough Disaster’, do any of you guys know what that is?
35: Don’t worry
36: Nope.
I think they should have used Anthony Rocca or someone like that for the new Torpedo skills video.
Oh and i don’t like kicking Torpedo’s, sure they are fun to have a go at but my drop-punts travel further. I can finally kick a goal on the full from the 50m line on the Waaia oval, which is about 45m actually.
JOSH-
if u want it its here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VAdzxkd0jk
lol don’t laugh when he says THAT line
Yeah but they already had Nathan Buckley giving a tutorial on Drop Punts, if they still made the Auskick Cd’s today Shannon Hurn would be the likely choice.
It’s where 96 Liverpools supporters went to a soccer game and never came back, they all suffocated from over-crowding, it’s scary to think if that ever happened at an AFL game.
Nice, I can probably only kick 40 metres.
Damo! I’m ashamed, it was 85.4 metres! Anyone who watched the 90’s DVD should know that.
Then what are you talking about Danni?
41-
Steve you are more innocent than i thought… lmaoo
JACK- “hopefully you and me will be playing together in the forward line.”
how would a future MRS.JACK ANTHONY look at that? ;)
Its actually a good video, much better than Jonathon Brown’s goalkicking video on the Auskick CD’s. He actually looks excited to teach.
43- lmao you talking about Jack?
I reckon you’d look at that as a great opportunity to play with Jack, he’s a great goal kicker so I reckon you could pick up some great points playing along side him. Don’t worry Danni, I know you envy his kicking, you’ll kick as well as him in no time
45- are you serious…u still dont get it? REALLY
okay remember that comment
‘i need to learn how to cook so i can bake muffins for superman”
think along those lines!
44: Yes, lol i laughed when he was counting down his steps when he was jogging into goal.
Damn! 0.6 meters off!
Alright Steve what year did he kick that ballburster and who was the opponent?
47- lmaoo u didnt laugh at the LINE??
lmaoo i was dying lmaooo
soo badd and steve doesnt get it!
48: Port Adelaide, 1999
What was wrong with Jonathon Brown’s video Josh?
46: She wants to make babies with him Steve.
52- lmaooooo!!!
51: Nothing, but if you watch the Jack Anthony video he sounds excited and energised (i know Browny could be excited but sound the same as he does) and Jack covers a lot more aspects to goalkicking than Browny did.
Yes Josh that’s correct.
Hey, if we make a Fab 5 website or whatever, we should submit videos of how to kick drop-punts, how to do an underground handball and so on.
see how good of a teacher he is! cant u see him teaching little Andre-Fed and Jack-Anthony Jr how to kick in our backyard while i sit there video taping the whole moment…..
i thnk im gonna cry..naww!! :)
55: Sorry, i know that was meant for Steve. And 1999 was a guess lol. And i think the score was 55-18 when he kicked the ball.
lol i think steve got scared away…
46- Yeah I remember that comment,
Women need to cook in modern day society, especially since Jack lives a busy life with training and playing footy, I think its a necessity
59- No thats a white lie, I went to make some toast
60- JOSH!! DOES HE SERIOUSLY NOT GET IT
58- Nah I remember that the difference was 14 points lol.
I can imagine Danni plotting a plan to clean up Jack’s girlfriend in the future.
I’ll tell him the more obscure way on MSN..
63- Damo, i will be Jack’s girlfriend!!
64- lmaoo yeah explain it using the video quote
Lol today while we were having a break playing Table Tennis, we asked the teacher if we could go down the street to get some lunch and he says “Alright, just don’t get lost” Turns out we got lost. I hadn’t been to the town before.
66- Danni, I don’t know what there is to get. Jack is obviously targeting that comment at young and upcoming football players, not teenage girls
Damo, do you remember which Port Adelaide player marked that kick in?
68- JOSH PLEASE EXPLAIN TO HIM, not here! lmao
70- Josh explained it to me, im still having trouble interpreting what you’re trying to take out of that comment. Jack said he wanted someone to play in the forward line with me in the future, he’s obviously referring to a young kid who looks up to him as a role model. Sorry Danni, you’ll have to explain a bit more
71- oh NEVER MIND!!
lol
watching carni dance, i finalyy found myself in the running part, you can see my american flag a bit when i run past the cam LOL
72: American flag?? Burn it!
Please tell me Danni, please please please!!!!!!!!!!!
74- tell you what?
73- NO I LIKE BEING AMERICAN GANGSTER
I still don’t know what you mean with this Jack Anthony comment
76- dont worry, lol
nothing of great importance.
Josh would have told u exactly what i meant anyways lol
77: To you its of great importance lol
Ohhhhh now I get it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You’d like for him to teach you his goal kicking style, woudlnt you?
79- lmaooo yes TO ME!!! ;)
80-……*sigh* no steve thats not it
81: Steve, how were you created?
82- i think hes got it..
…or not
His internet is down.
85- ohhhh lol we tried. lol
well im off now.
Cya Josh.
lol :P
Yes, internets back.
danni, im sorry I put you through that last night, lol, I was just teasing you all along.
Hurley has a 3 match ban! Pies beating the Tigers 6.7 43 to 4.0 24 in the second quarter
Morton has 3 of Richmond’s 4 goals.
I thought you were there Adam, or are you?
Nope, decided not to go, seemed like a lot of work to go see a hybrid Richmond/Coburg side verse Collingwood for an irrelevant pre-season match a train and a tram ride away on a day where showers seemed likely.
Fair enough, I wouldve gone though.
Is it possible to listen online?
Brendon Lade marked that kick-in and Peter Landy called it and from memory he booted it just before the Quarter Time siren.
live stream on collingwood website
really? Thanks Danni
I thought it might’ve been Lade, I wasnt 100% sure though
This Jonathan Bernard bloke is commentating in the live chat on the Collinwood website. Very Pies-biased commentary, but what else would you expect?
96-
My friend (Collingwood supporter) is a bad influence. told her Adam was going and corse i was nagging all morning, REALLY WANTED TO GO BUT IM SICK
She was egging me on to skip my last two classes and go to the game!
Lmaoo and whats worse is I considered it!
Great to see Jack’s kicked 2 Danni, see I told you he’d play well
96- UMMM its on THE COLLINGWOOD WEBSITE hes supposed to be biased!
Danni – I did say “what else would you expect”.
I’m glad you didn’t go, I would have felt like crap if you’d ended up deciding to go thinking I was there, and I’d decided not to thinking you weren’t.
Apparently Jack Anthony: “Looked really good. Seems to have added some jump to his game. Flew for at least three pack marks. Something we didn’t see last year.”
101- yeah true!
shes so mean shes like
“just go Danni!! dont u wanna see JACK!!?”
and im like “OMGG YES!!! :(”
ALL MORNING
“I WANNA GOOOOO!!!”
“i reallyy wanna GO!!!”
my friends had to put up with that all day
Pies up 4.1 25 to 9.10 64.
McCarthy with 15 possessions, thats a good sign
White has 16 possessions for Richmond. Probably a load of them are turnovers. Farmer’s apparently been impressive.
102- :) i know!!
lol i so squealed when i read that! ;)
well he has to fly, hes SUPERMAN
Danni, im begining to think your a pig, judging by the amount of squealing you do. lol
107- LMAOO hahah its not that kind of squealing its more like
girl crazed over boyband squealing
Ohh ok Danni, so back to the topic of conversation last night…lol
109- LMAOOO damn u steve! i knew you were not that innocent
Yeah, it was a fun game though, I did my best to convince you
111- lmaooo i was like..does her seriously NOT GET IT!
i cnt watch that video with out ROFLing now
hahaha.
This game’s pretty similiar to Richmond V Collingwood in Round 20 last year at the G. Richmond were down 3.3 21 to 13.13 91 at half time in that game.
Anyone else get the day off today? My Mum wouldn’t let me go on a day like this, it’s been raining all day and that wouldn’t help my cold.
Steve, no it isn’t. We’re only losing by 39 at HT, not 70.
That’s an interesting scoreline – All the goal and behind totals end in 3.
I remember that game off by heart. 2.1 13 to 7.8 50 at quarter time, 3.3 21 to 13.13 91 at half time, 6.5 41 to 20.18 138 at TQT, and 8.11 59 to 22.20 152 at the end.
Yeah, I was home today, still sick
114: As if we would get a day off, although I had 3 spares today.
At our school we can pick a teacher to be our mentor at the start of year 12. My mentor invited me and the rest of her mentorees (about 5 other kids) out to breakfast today before school.
4.3 27 to 9.10 64 early in the third
Thats interesting Adam.
Thats strange Josh, its been cloudy all day here but barely rained
116: You know EVERY game off by heart
120- Thats a complete lie. There are thousands of games I don’t know off by heart
And Josh, you cant even remember the score of a game 2 minutes after it finishes, which was the case in Geelong V North Melbourne
117- Sounds fun.
status- thinking of jack
Steve – 1955 Grand Final.
122: I was confused because of Hale’s shot after the siren.
Dees beat the Pies 8.16 64 to 5.6 36, but thats only fresh in my mind cos I watched a video of the Demons history today which ive had for ages
Goal to Jake King.
127-
argghhhhh fark!
i cnt stand King
Does anyone get the impression that Jonathon Bernard would rather be scrubbing toilets than updating the chat blog of the game every minute? He sounds very uninterested by the way he types.
Tigers look all right now, but I cant see how they’ll win
Me neither Danni. He’s horrible in defense, but in his defense I don’t mind him up forward.
Vickery goal. 6.3 39 to 9.10 64!
129- nahh i like him.
i was rofling when he typed
‘WHO WEARS SHORT SHORTS?’
lmaoooo
hahahahah GOLD
Another one to Vickery Dickery Dock.
Corrieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
128 ^ I agree, he was answering in 1 or 2 word sentences to all the questions thrown at him at half time.
Sounds like I’m the only one in good health lol.
Does this mean that you can’t come tomorrow Steve?
How has McCarthy fared for the Magpies?
Damo- comment 104
I’m not sure Damo, I might be able to still
[Comment From Brian Taylor Brian Taylor: ]
Ferocious play from the man mountain Dawes, very much in the Brian Taylor mould. Start printing my bloody comments Bernard or I’ll be visiting the lexus on Monday morning. Friday March 5, 2010 5:42 Brian Taylor
lmaooo hahahhahahahahahaha
139- hahahaha
Anthony Corrie just kicked a goal
139 – Hahaha, Bernard must be scared!
Jake King kickes his second! :o
142-
arggghhhhhhhhh FARKK!
Adam, we shoulda gone!!! :(
You still going tonight Steve?
Has anyone seen Travis Cloke’s new tatoo? It looks pretty outstanding.
Port Adelaide to wear their home strip tonight i’m almost certain.
145- ‘Travis Cloke has got it going on…’
Hey Danni what’s your mobile number?
[Comment From Peter Peter: ]
Visy Park, what ground was that called before.
IDIOT!
Nah, I was never going to go by myself.
Are they, I wanted to see their white strip, even though they wore it last week
147- Good luck Adam
Morton kicks his fourth, Tigers down by 26 again. Four this quarter to them. Would like to see Relton Roberts or Pat Contin get a mention by Bernard.
149: Well, i saw them training today wearing their black strip and teams always wear what they are going to wear on match day during the last training of the week.
150: He’ll need it.
well, Adam I haven’t really got a phone! well I do but its my dads. I dropped mine and it broke lol and I don’t think giving u my dads number is a good idea….lmaooo trust me
I saw an image of Mccarthy taking a screamer in the goal square so I was curious to see how he went, I knew I should have read the previous comments.
139- funny
I just saw highlights of the match on the news bulletin a few minutes ago, Polak is prominent for the Tigers, obviously Anthony is in the Collingwood forward line and Travis Cloke has printed new tatoos on his back.
Would you give it to us if you had your own phone?
I’m too slow with my comments lol.
155: Was this Ch10 news? Did you see the female reporter attack Brendan Fevola as he was leaving the airport? Bloody women!
damn, I forgot to watch the news
156- yeah i would.
lol imagine if u were a dad of a 17 year old girl getting txts and calls for about 6 guys!! wouldnt u freak?
lmaoo
Lol, I heard about that on the radio Josh, what a *****
158- ewww why wanna attack Fev.
i mean ewwwww and all but..yeah
160: No you wouldnt! And even if i did have your number i wouldn’t text you unless it was important, unlike Jeff who texts me every 10 minutes asking what i’m doing.
158- Yeah that was intresting, I felt sorry for Fev in that instance although what he did was inexcusable.
164: The picture was taken two years ago, he hasn’t done anything wrong in the past five months. Good on him.
^163: Lol.
3 quarter time, Tigers have reduced the deficit to 25 points.
lol if you say so!
i havent got much credit. :(
167: I bought credit yesterday
166: You said ‘lol’!
This is actually looking like a good game.
8.4 52 to 11.11 77, Go Tigers! lol
I’m saying the fact that he cheated on his wife in the first place was disgraceful. In a way Bingle brought this apon herself, she allowed the photo to be shot and the fact that she was with Fev in the first place was quizzical enough.
I dont think I have any credit, actually I dont know where my phone is. I hate my phone
Did you hear that the Herald Sun had that image for 6 months before it was revealed in the womens weekly? Thats ridiculous!
171: I’m getting a new one soon, hopefully.
170: Yeah that’s all been established, Fev certaintly is one of the devils of the AFL, but how he has handled the change from Carlton to Brisane has been admirable, and with this latest setback, i feel a tiny bit sorry for him.
I’ve always admired Fev as a player and a person, apart from when he’s playing the Dees, every little incident he’s been in I’ve been on his side of the argument
Well didn’t he send the image to the magazine, if so that is a desperate cry for publicity.
But I agree he has made a fairly smooth transition up north.
Steve since your internet is back, do you want to send me some photos you took of the North-Dockers game?
What about Brownlow night steve, he got himself intoxicated!
Then there was the urine incident at a nightclub and the sex toy scandal at fed Square on mad Monday, who else is to blame?
177: The people who kept serving him drinks, the sex store clerk who didn’t shoo him out the door the moment he entered, the nightclub for not having toilets. Haha, nah they were all Fevola’s fault.
All I can say is that Fev is a character of the game, he kicks goals, he’s mecurial, what he does on the field in exactly what the game needs, what he does off the field is not. At the end of the day, the former of those two wins out.
Yeah I will Josh, their on the main computer now and im on the lap top but ill send them shortly
7 minutes gone, Tigers 8.4 52 to 11.15 81, innacuracy giving Tigers dim hope
179: Why did the AFL get involved with this anyway? It’s not their problem.
Lebron James is as big a tosser as Fev and he doesn’t have the terrible reputation in the NBA, simply because his attitude is commonplace.
Although after the Cavs lost to the Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals Lebron refused to shake his opponents hands after the game. Shades of Brock McLean you may be thinking? Well one step further. He was quoted as saying “I’m a winner. I shouldn’t have to shake nobody’s hands.” At least he didn’t stink it up like McLean though.
Simply, because Fev is an AFL player
Yeah Lebron is really arrogant, I was watching the basketball today, Lakers V Heat
Yeah in my period 6 spare in the library me and a few other boys were following the live scores of that match on the ESPN site. No video unfortunately.
Well that is different, he prides himself on confidence and has a win at all costs attitude towards competition like many famous athletes such as Muhammad Ali.
Does it reflect on his personal attitude in life, who knows?
Fev on the other hand caused damage to public property, exposed himself and his club to embarassment.
Yeah, Heat won 114-111 in overtime, great game.
8.6 54 to 11.20 86! Pies have kicked 9 behinds in the last quarter!
We were on a laptop, switching windows every time Ms Malone the librarian came.
According to Bernard, Nason just missed a sitter from 15m out directly in front. Judging by the flogness of the average Collingwood supporter, I think we can realistically adjust that to 25m out on a slight angle.
this is the most ridiculous last quarter ever.
Do you know who won in Utah V Pheonix?
8.8 56 to 11.22 88! This is a joke! 11 behinds to 4 behinds in the last!
190: Lol, and even still by the looks of it Collingwood players are missing from 15m out directly in front.
Utah, Phoenix were up at 3 quarter time by about 8 I think from memory but Utah stormed home in the last quarter with about 40-20, winning comfortably.
Wow, I turned it on at the start of the last quarter and I think Pheonix were up by 10
This is ridiculous! They’ve kicked 13 behinds in the last quarter!
Better than kicking 13 behinds in the first quarter.
Relton roberts kicked the first of the quarter.
9.8 62 to 11.24 90
I thought North Melbourne’s 0.9 in the last quarter was bad, but 0.13?
And shortly after Relton opens the goalscoring account for the quarter, the siren sounds.
Game over, 9.8 62 to 11.24 90
199: Shut up
Josh, its all history now
Just entered a competition to win the Official 2010 AFL Season Guide on the North Melbourne website, had to guess who will kick the first goal in the match tomorrow against Hawthorn. I picked Aaron Edwards.
nice, ill join that competition, do you have to pick a North Melbourne player?
Take a look at this everyone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuXO_lbPeS0
adam check ur email
206: Farrk!
Oooh love birds.
208- shut it BARNSTABLE
Danni I already replied like 10 minutes ago.
210- OPPPS okay..lol sorry
Why don’t you just get Facebook?
209: What’s it all about then?
212: Do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it do it.
WAYYYYYYYYYY too distracting!
213- year 12s only josh!
And the Almanac isn’t?
Facebook can be a big distraction, yes, but it can be helpful too. Often people’s statuses contain useful knowledge.
^217: I was going to say that too, but you beat me.
whats this email about?
220- dont worry steve, yr 12 stuff
Top secret apparantly Steve.
by the way, the Almanac isnt a distraction, it’s a way of life.
Josh, no ruining the game tonight, although I might just go off at 7:39
224: Woah Alipate Carlile has kicked the first three goals of the game, and Daniel Cross has had three kicks!
wow thats amazing considering the game doesn’t start for another 25 minutes!
Im taking a big punt tonight, Port by 104 points. Hey, its the NAB cup, punts are allowed
Steve if you are going to the match tomorrow I’ll probably get to flinders Street just before 1:30 judging by my train times.
I should really get a Facebook lol.
Damo, ill let you know after the game finishes tonight whether I can come or not
Do it Damo it takes a couple of minutes to set up, you could be connected with Kane Lucas in no time!
Hmm, i have no idea who is going to win tonight, but i have a feeling both scores will be into triple-figures by the night’s end.
Does anyone like St Kilda’s new home guernsey? It looks different, almost a bit like a clash guernsey.
Alright then.
By the way Dwayne Russell has just released a book, albiet it is aimed for 5 year olds.
theres a fool recapping the Richmond V Collingwood game on SEN.
“Morton kicked 4 out of Richmond’s 8 goals”. They kicked 9.
“Martin played today, but he was quiet”. He didnt play!
Danni, im pretty disappointed. How does one-month old Almanacker Adam Bulman get an email before one year veterans like me and josh, and blokes who came on board in Round 12 like Damo
It’s not too bad, I wish St Kilda brought back the black cross which I think used to appear on their away guernsey.
I’ll probably tip the Bulldogs by about 21 points tonight.
its not their home guernsey Josh!
234: Your a fool Steve. I mean the traditional St Kilda guernsey with a new white outline. Makes it look more white now. Have a look at St Kilda profile pictures on AFL Match Centre and you’ll see what i mean.
sorry, I thought you meant the one they have been wearing in the nab cup
Not impressed Healy.
you cant say that without using capitals, lol
NOT IMPRESSED HEALY!!
there we go!
Well off you go Steve, 00:04:21 seconds remaining till the first bounce.
00:02:19 and im still here
00:00:01!
cya!
I’m furious with my mum. She’s contributing to the ratings of Better Homes and Gardens.
NOT IMPRESSED MRS. BULMAN!
Now the entire family is watching it, with one notable exception.
Great, exciting first half of footy, great to see Hall kicking one on the siren, he could at least have a few though. Poor crowd.
Damo, really sorry mate, I’m not allowed to go tomorrow, my whole family is going out for the day, I asked my Mum a few times but she said I’ve been too sick. Maybe next week
Or, in football terms, the Healy Parental tribunal declared me too sick and a one match sanction
Quite a scrappy first quarter, but the play opened up in the second. Both Daniel and Paul Stewart scored goals – they’re not related are they? Cross, Griffen and Aker were good in the quarter. Boak eyecatching too. My dad didn’t know that Brodie Moles was on Geelong’s rookie list.
Looks like it’s gonna be a good second half, i keep having to remind myself that the winner will be in next week’s Grand Final.
Daniel Stewart and Justin Westhoff have been impressive.
No worries Steve like I said I understand if you can’t go, I’ll probably be going to St Kilda-Fremantle tomorrow night.
I know how you feel Adam, my parents are avid Better homes and gardens viewers, I’d doubt if they have missed an episode sice it began about 13 years ago.
Gee Port’s tackling pressure was exceptional early although the Dogs have done well to peg them back despite their efficiency not as high standard as we are used to. Scores level at Three Quarter Time, it should be grandstand finish.
What a great game, is Griffen turning into a elite midfielder?
Trust a number 36 to kick the winning goal ;)
Hall!!!!!!!!!
LAKE!!
what another great game!
Cheers Damo.
“I’d doubt if they have missed an episode sice it began about 13 years ago”. Another train quote
Josh, who’d ya give your 3 votes to?
Mine:
3. Hall
2. Boak
1. Griffen
Imagine if Lake had’ve missed.
the kick was almost touched
I’m just working mine out now..
3: Griffen
2: Morris
1: Gray
259- 36’s dont miss. Nuff said.
He didn’t delegate the responsibility to Minson, for once.
I’m not gonna look at the stats before I work mine out, I just went with my insticts, who I thought were the 3 best players just from watching alone
I haven’t looked at the stats yet, Morris was very good and stopped a lot of potent attack in the Power forward line, Griffen was at his best tonight, with long raking passes to Hall and useful disposal through the midfield and i thought Gray was lively with two goals and a decent amount of possessions.
Interesting to note that no Port player had more than 21 disposals, Cross led the Dogs with only 24
Hall was the game breaker, he kicked 4, gave off another 3, took 9 marks, including a few beauties. He was easily best on ground in my opinion. Boak’s work ethic shone for Port, and Griffen ran hard and kicked a couple of goals as well
What about Dan Stewart? He’s one of the finds of the Pre-Season so far.
Yeah he’s been brilliant, 6 goals in 3 games. disappointing that Hitchcock didnt get any, or Westhoff, I think that’s where Port lost the game, missed forward opportunities. But how good were Harding’s two late goals? He’s fit like a glove into this new Port side
269: I wouldn’t see he’s fit into the side perfectly, but he was handy tonight and will warrant selection for Round 1 against North Melbourne.
He’s the sort of player Port need, handy in the midfield but can also crumb a goal up forward.
271: You forgot about him yesterday!
Deep down I hadn’t forgotten him, its just confusing to asscociate both Harding’s together since one’s aborginial.
Now your being racist. Go to bed Stephen.
Dont you dare bring out that line!
Hey Josh, do you remember the score for tonights match?
1.11.17.92 to 1.12.8.89 (i’ve got it written down in my scoresheets right in front of me)
And i can tell you that the 5th goal of the third quarter was kicked through Daniel Stewart after he gathered and snapped around the body to draw scores level 63 apiece.
and I can tell you that the crowd was 10,531, and that 11 goals were kicked to the lockett end and 15 to the coventry
I wish channel 7 would show what the crowd attendance was.
yeah.
Don’t you just love footy?
280- Who dosn’t ?
It’s alright
282- Get off the site! lol
check your emails guys
Would have been funnier if you said “Get outta my site!” Lol
284- North Melbourne V Freo photos are sent
286: Seen em, you love those shoes don’t you Steve? Lol, quality pics there. Marvelous.
287- Was it a real super effort ?
Yeah there good shoes, I love the photos of Freo going up the race, it was pretty convinient since we were sitting right next to it. My other favourite one is with Damo pumping his fist just after the Dockers were walking off after the game, its funny cos you can see Hayden Ballantyne running towards us
Oh that was Damo’s fist, thought it was yours coz it had a white cuff, and your jumper was white lol. So Damo was fist-pumping for the Dockers? I’m not talking to him again.
Gee, you can pick Zac Clarke from a mile away.
You cant blame him, it was hard not to get excited about the victory
Haha, Ballantyne looks like a weird little mofo in that pic. Looks like he’s real eager to see you guys.
He went up to hug a guy in the crowd who was sitting a few seats across from us, he mustve known him. I should’ve gotten a picture of Michael Johnson when he came right up to us
I presume those are Damo’s feet hanging over the fence?
yep, thats right. Did anyone hear that Guy McKenna broke his leg during an intra club match with Gold Coast, apparently he came on as an emergency and broke his leg in 3 places and will be on crutches for a few weeks
295: Hahahahaha so the coach is the first real injury worry for the new Gold Coast team? Classic.
yeah lol, its always funny if a non-player at a club gets injured
Well i just sent off my article. I’m off now, i got a tennis doubles tournament tomorrow that i’m not playing in. Lol night.
cya, YES! I can listen to Adelaide V Melbourne online tomorrow!!!!!!!!
