2013 – A Season In Song – Round 5: Return to Form

After the previous round’s failure to trouble the witty ditty scorers, rather than attempt something relating to the Anzac Round, I channeled my inner Jimmy Webb in sympathy with the Saints early season woes.

The feeling of elation when I heard Greg’s take on this one via my smartphone in the Camberwell JB Hi-Fi store the next Saturday morning took me back to, oh I don’t know, the last time I felt the satisfaction of a job well done (around 1982 I think).

You can still find this here (along with “Dees of Old”) – https://soundcloud.com/#coodabeen-champions

Frankston Line (to the tune of Galveston)

Frankston Line oh Frankston Line
On the way to Seaford going
Dark winter days, wind blowing
It was 2011* when we left Moorabbin * two oh one one

Frankston Line oh Frankston Line
Full of angry Saints supporters
Best you just lock up your daughters
Keep em away from the Frankston Line

Now I’m in the Animal Enclosure
Standing there irrelevantly * recent reference to Saints’ lack of relevance
There’s no more Moorabbin for me
At Linton Street where we used to run

Frankston Line oh Frankston Line
Brent Goddard’s patience was dying
When they lose he’s still crying
Could they at least train over at Sandringham
Not Frankston Line Not Frankston Line
