I was wearing a Viv Richards T-shirt when we checked into a hotel at Oia on Santorini. You will find cricket lovers, and Viv lovers, everywhere (apparently):

There were only seven of those T-shirts in captivity.
They started with:
Peter Hanlon
Christian Ryan
Sam Pang
John Origlasso
Paul Daffey
Michael Harms
and me
One is on Santorini. Where are the rest of them?
Does anyone know which photgrapher took the Viv pic?

That’s almost an 8.7 on the Yvette Scale of coincidental encounters (it’s logarithmic, Yoshi’s a 10)
Great yarn John. One of my favourite things about travel is spotting stuff like this. On the Amalfi coast I saw a guy in a West End Draught T-shirt. I nearly chased after him, but couldn’t drag myself away from my tiramisu. And he was clearly insane!
That looks like a good website too.
Mickey, One of my fave moments travelling was when I was carefully watching where I was putting my feet on the rocks and fine dust at Mycenae. I noticed the unmistakable tread of Dunlop Volleys in the dust. What a buzz! (Same trip as the cricket story actually).
Brilliant John. Gawd you are all young and fit(ter) in the photo. Hard to pick you under the RR special. And the Carlos Santana medusa locks in Santorini!!! I’m just jealous because you still have hair.
Cricket Monthly is a brilliant publication. Like Grantland the ESPN $’s make a difference to presentation quality.
KP, VVS, Dravid, Gideon and Harms – all in one edition! Exalted company. When too much sport is never enough.
Fantastic story John. Loved the “your father is a good man” line!
Ahh yes. Love it.
“A swagger even while still.”
That’s a top photo on the front, too.
Possibility knocks.
Not sure who took it originally, but here it is

A funny thing happened to me on the way to the Coloseum (Rome). I saw this guy at a distance wearing a Sainters jumper (1997 Grand final vintage) . As I got closer I broke into the old …Knock Knock…Whos there…OWEN….Owen? …. Owen the saints come marching in etc etc Of course my wife thought we were crazy and we were – we both barracked for the Sainters lol
