WAFL Round 3: Three unbeaten

We had a bit of extra time so we commissioned an oil painting of an iPhone photo by John Menzies of a Tom Lee mark at Leederville Oval.
In the early Good Friday game at Leederville the Lions led all day but needed to dig deep to shake off West Coast. Rhys Waters kicked three goals for Subiaco.
Subiaco 8.12 (60) West Coast 6.9 (45)
It was wet, gloomy and close at Rushton Park where Blair Bell, Peel’s best player for the last five years, was the difference. Bell kicked five goals; Bailey Banfield was also good. Cam Eardley was the best on for the plucky Sharks.
Peel 12.13 (85) East Fremantle 11.7 (73)
Perth remains unbeaten and seemed on the way to an easy win when they kicked the first six goals at Bassendean. Pluckiness was the theme of the round and Swans came back to make a game of it. Cody Ninyette kicked three goals on his return for the Demons and Michael Bennell took the mark of the day. Leigh Kohlmann and Josh Cipro got three for Swans.
Perth 11.8 (74) Swan Districts 8.17 (65)
Claremont restricted East Perth to 1.1 in the first half at Leederville on Saturday and had put the game to bed by midway through the third quarter. The Royals showed a bit of spirit in the last quarter. The duel between Tom Lee and Tony Olango was a highlight with each taking good marks but Olango taking the points.
Claremont 11.9 (75) East Perth 5.5 (35)

This effort from Tyler Keitel went through for a goal.
An incredible ruck performance by Brock Higgins and three goals from Tiwi recruit Dion Munkara were the highlights in South Fremantle’s win at Fremantle Oval. In keeping with the earlier games West Perth scored the only three goals of the last quarter to make it interesting (the Bulldogs kicked seven points). Tyler Keitel kicked four goals for the Falcons.
South Fremantle 11.12 (78) West Perth 10.2 (62)
The ladder:
Claremont 12
Subiaco 12
Perth 12

West Coast 4
