STEREO STORIES, the music and memoir project founded by Almanacker Vin Maskell, has two shows coming up, with more pencilled in for the second half of the year.
First up is Stereo Stories Live at the Williamstown Library on Sunday afternoon 19 April.
After captivating audiences at the 2014 Williamstown Literary Festival and Newport Folk Festival, the Stereo Stories Band of writers and musicians will present more stories of humour, pathos and love, with doses of jazz, pop and rock.
Writers will read stories about particular songs, accompanied by musicians.
Making his debut on the Stereo Stories stage will be Darren ‘Smokie’ Dawson, with a story about young love and a deal-breaking song. He’ll be following in the footsteps of fellow Almanackers Rick Kane and Kerrie Soraghan, who have been part of previous Stereo Stories shows. Lucia Nardo, an occasional Almanacker, will be reading a story about a World War 2 song, accompanied by her 86 year old father on piano accordion.
Stereo Stories Live at the Williamstown Library on Sunday afternoon 19 April will be upstairs in The Gallery, from 3pm to 4pm. Free admission, bookings recommended, via the Williamstown Library.
Stereo Stories will be doing a half-hour set at the Newstead Short Story Tattoo on the first weekend of May. The short bracket of stories in stereo will be part of Fire Stories, at the Newstead Racecourse on Saturday 2 May, 7pm. (Almanackers Paul Daffey and Terry Chapman were part of the Newstead Short Story Tattoo a few years back.)
Pop in to either (or both!) of the Stereo Stories shows if you happen to be in the neighbourhood.
Stereo Stories is a partner site of The Footy Almanac.

It’s standing room only for this Sunday’s Stereo Stories gig at the Williamstown Library, where the Almanac’s Smokie Dawson will be making his debut on the Stereo Stories stage.
Smokie, and six other writers, will be accompanied by musicians as they read stories inspired by favourite songs.
Without giving too much away, we can say that if you like live music and good heartfelt yarns, you’ll enjoy Stereo Stories. MC is Almanacker Vin Maskell. Show starts at 3pm.

Highly recommended…went to the Newport event. Library is recording this as a sellout…is there standing room (or salvos tkts!)?
Agree, this is such a great idea for a show. Vin and his team will not let you down, good luck Smokie, enjoy the ride. Cheers
Thanks guys. Crio, yes, the Library says it’s ‘fully booked’. So, standing room only, I suspect. (In true rock and roll fashion I’d put your name on the door, but the Library is a public space, so everybody’s welcome. Get there early! Cheers.
