pre-match
warming up
against each other’s thighs
tangled branches
our back line
a mess
embarrassed
once again on the field
we call home
signs of spring
I cannot see –
late season slump
the same hands
that held the cup
fumbling the ball
winter fog
cursing
the loss
winter’s hold –
everything that brings me here
still here
