I don’t like watching the Crows on a Friday night, the tension builds to much for me, luckily all of my Walkerville games from here are lined up with the Crows game, including tonight, I missed the first half, this is what I took from the radio and the scores.

 

The Crows start it off in a good fashion but then bulldogs go back and get the lead for a short time before the Crows bounce back again and kick another goal, the Bulldogs do the exact same thing, and have the lead at quarter time, that was all from scores, at this point I turn on the car radio and realise the Crows are on. Rather than listening to Nova.

 

I am hearing that the Bulldogs are playing a interesting game style that they are surprised that they are in this. They keep blabbing on, I just want to know the score! Ah yes, finally. Bulldogs by 2 points, no. Then again that was the first quarter and Crows tend to generally improve.

 

In the second quarter I hear that JJ scores a goal to start with a good start and giving Crows the lead, JJ is in some form and is going up near his potential. Eddie betts is brilliant and scores another for the Crows. We eventually get home and I take a shower and put my pyjamas on, I go to our downstairs TV to eat my warm soup and watch the footy.

 

I eat my soup while I watch the halftime show, I see that the game is close. I see the really cute Auskick nominee, he thinks that hawks can win the premiership. Then the game starts, the third quarter is so good, this game is amazing to watch.

 

The Crows are playing perfect against the reigning premiers, we are blowing them away. I love how good Tex and JJ are playing. We can see vision of Luke Beverage, he looks on the verge of crying the Bulldogs can not win from here because the Crows are playing so well.

 

The last quarter is just sit back relax and enjoy the Crows win, the Crows did well against the Bulldogs tonight and sent a statement to the footy world saying, “Don’t write us off” if GWS lose we will be top of the ladder, I think we can do it. Tonight was perfect.

The Port Game:

First Time

West Coast versus Port Adelaide

Port Adelaide are first on the ladder, they are versing West Coast and it will be the first time that they beat someone in the top eight. In the first quarter it looks like they can, it is close though with West Coast winning by 3 points at quarter time.

 

Port Adelaide are not playing as well in the second quarter, you can kind of see the game slipping through their fingers. It looks like they still might not beat a top 8 side. They need to win this as a step in winning the premiers like they did in 04. West Coast lead by 11.

 

In the 3rd quarter Port do well to get back to level with West Coast, they are in with the momentum and that would be very handy in the last quarter. West Coast are still playing well but Port are playing “Bloody impressive,” according to  Ken Hinkley.

 

In the last quarter Port just blew them away. They made a huge step to win the premiership. They won in the end by 32. They take on second to last in North Melbourne next week, that will be an easy game. But they are capable of beating Port, they beat the Crows.

Walkerville versus Payneham

Payneham, our rival from across the river, we have already played them this year and we lost by 8 points. We currently are 6 premiership points behind them, if we win tonight, we are 2 points behind the undefeated side. If we lose, their is danger to go down to 3rd, we travel to enemy territory in the rain and cold to win not lose.

 

We go to Payneham oval and then we warm up. There is one attack side of the oval that we will go around, it is very cold and rainy and the oval is soggy, I am captain today. For the toss the umpire asks which hand his whistle is in. I think that is silly because he puts it behind his back and could easily switch it. My co captain chooses and chooses wrong, we start against the wind. Payneham aren’t in the best of form, we can definitely beat them. I am playing half back, we get our final talk and then start.

 

The match starts of close, in the centre square for almost 5 minutes but they eventually get a point and a goal, this is bringing back memories of the game where we lost by 8 point, it was even but we couldn’t convert. It is on our flank for a lot of it, the siren goes to end the first quarter, that quarter I was rebounding of half back well, my opponent would go up and I would stay back lose.

 

At quarter time, Phil tells us that we are doing well but we need to convert better, he says that we are kicking into the wind and that will give us an advantage, if we drop off the wind won’t do it for us, I am half back again. The centre bounce is on and we get it into our forward line my opponent is going all the way back to help his defense while I am standing on the 50 metre line ready for the ball to come out then send it back inside the 50. We kick 15 points and Payneham don’t score in that quarter. It is 7 to 15.

 

At half time Phil is happy with us because we are beating Payneham and could be the first team to beat them in the season, he tells us that we can be the first team to score against the wind, I think we can. The 3rd quarter is probably our worst quarter, they have to move my opponent off me, I have a opponent who runs into the midfield so I am loose in defense and helping the core defense and the rebound, we are getting stuck on the defensive wing and cant move it  to our forward line. Saying that they only scored one goal and that was given to them by the umpire for a free kick. The score is 13 to 15.

 

The last quarter is tense, at 3 quarter time Phil says if we win we will get Fruchocs, can we take home the chocolates? I am playing half back again and this time I am in more deep, at one point I had marked it inside the centre square and the ran off my line, sold the candy ran more and kicked it perfectly forward. Another time was when they kicked it and I had to run back and I just got a fist on it to the boundary line, but the best play was when their was 2 minutes to go they bombed it inside the fifty, Then I marked it and played on, then kicked it directly to ben who ran it into our forward line. The siren eventually sounded and we were all hugging each other and then at the end took home the chocolates!

My Premiership Favourites:

This is a little thing that I used to do when I was younger to see who I would think would win the Premiership. Who I think will win the premiership will change throughout the season. I will do an update every time it changes. I know it is not a very good method and it is not reliable, but here goes.

 

The reigning premiers start off as favourites then whoever beats them are favourites then whoever beats them are favourites and so on. Western Bulldogs start off as favourites and they have only had one team beat them which is Fremantle and that was in Round 3. Fremantle lost against West Coast so that means that West Coast are favourites. West Coast lost to Essendon so that makes Essendon favourites. Essendon lost to Richmond so that means Richmond are favourites. Richmond lost to Sydney and Sydney haven’t lost since then so sydney are favourites.

 

This is a more complicated version of it. So the reigning premiers are the favourites and whoever beats them are favourites. If the favourites have been beaten before the round that they got beaten on then the team with highest winning margin on them and so on.

 

Western Bulldogs start favourites, the only team that has beaten them are Fremantle, Fremantle have lost 2 games. One against Geelong by 42 and the other one against Port by 89. So Port are the favourites. They have lost 2 games, 1 against Crows by 17 and 1 against GWS by 31. Therefore GWS are the favourites. GWS have only lost 1 game and that was against the Crows. The Crows have lost 1 game and that was against North Melbourne North Melbourne have lost 5 games the most against West Coast by 43.

 

West Coast have lost 2 games, the most by 50 against Hawthorn. Hawthorn have lost 5 games, the most by 86 against Gold Coast and Geelong. Gold Coast have lost 4 and Geelong have lost 2. Geelong have lost 2 games, the most against Collingwood by 29. Collingwood have lost 5 games, the most by 29 against Geelong.  Geelong have lost 2 games, the most against Collingwood by 29, we have already been down that path and it would go on a endless loop so the other team they lost to is Gold Coast.

 

Gold Coast have lost by 4 games the most by 102 against GWS. GWS have 2 games, the most by the Crows by 56, we have already been down that path so it will be on an endless loop so the other game they have lost was against St Kilda by 23. St Kilda have lost 3 games, the most by 38 against Geelong. Geelong have lost 3 games and 2 have been mentioned already, the other game was against Essendon.

 

Essendon have lost 4 games, the most by 65 against Crows. Crows have lost 2 games but we have already been down one of those paths, the one that we haven’t been down through was against Melbourne. Melbourne have lost 4 games, the most by 29 against Geelong. Geelong have lost 4 games and we have been down 3 of lose paths. The other one is against West Coast. West Coast have lost 5 games, we have already been down one of those paths. The most by 61 against Essendon. Essendon have lost 6 games, the most against the Crows but we have already been down that path so second is against Collingwood for 38. Collingwood have lost 7 games, the most by 29 against Carlton. Carlton have lost 7 games, the most by 90 against Port Adelaide.

 

Port Adelaide have lost 5 games, The most by 70 against Essendon. Essendon have lost 6 games. We have been down 2 paths so the 3rd the most losing margin is against Fremantle by 37. Fremantle have lost 6 games the most by Crows by 100. The Crows have lost 3 games the most by North Melbourne but we have already been down that path so the second highest margin is against Melbourne. Melbourne have lost 5 games the most by 29 against Geelong but we have already been down that path so the second highest margin is 14 against North Melbourne.

West Coast have lost 5 games we have been down 2 of those paths. The third most is against Richmond.

 

Richmond have lost 5 games, we have already been down one of those paths so the second highest path is against Sydney. Sydney have lost 6 games, we have already been down one of those paths so the second highest is against West Coast.

 

West Coast have lost 5 games and we have already been down 3 of those paths so the fourth highest margin is against GWS by 8. GWS have lost 3 games and we have been down 3 of those paths so GWS are favourites.

 

If Greater Western Sydney and Sydney don’t lose anymore games from here they will stay favourite.
