Round 1 – St Kilda v Collingwood: Haiku Bob – autumn clarity

crowds return—
the sounds of the stadium
enter the stadium

autumn clarity—
everything
is black and white

Covid hibernation—
a Daicos goal
restarts my heart

morning glories—
the audacity
of first-gamers

sprinkling salt on our chips peppering the goals

celebrating
another goal
beer on our breath

closed roof
the crowd leans in
a little closer

final siren—
a newborn sings the song
with its legs

    Great stuff Haiku Bob.

    “closed roof
    the crowd leans in
    a little closer”
    Love it

    Welcome back

    Go Pies

  2. Stephen G says

And welcome back to you too, Jim K.

With your brand new rookie grandson experiencing his first 4 points, I would have thought the final stanza also gladdened your heart:

    final siren—
    a newborn sings the song
    with its legs

Great to read you again Haiku Bob.
Your images warm the best parts
    of so many die-hard pie-hearts.

  3. Jim Kesselschmidt says

Thanks Stephen. From an old pie diehard Haiku Bob does gladden the heart.

Young Rocky might be writing for the Footy Almanac, at 11 weeks old he’s as articulate as some footy commentators I’ve heard or read ?
