Pre-Season Challenge – Week 3: Richmond v Port Adelaide – Time for a song.

So Mr Hardwick’s actions have been debated on another post, which is something I don’t wish to emulate here. Instead I’m going to try to look at this from the perspective of song….and perhaps a little humour. I’m probably going to cop it from some people, such is the way attempted humour often ends up in the era of political correctness, but sometimes if you dish it out like I am I’ll need to be prepared to cop it. Also, don’t expect this to be a regular feature this year, the brain will need post season surgery if I have to overuse it!

(To be sung to the tune of “Give It Up” by KC and the Sunshine Band)

Every Tiger’s Injured
Every Tiger’s breaking downHardwick’s only thinking
Why Oh Why

Na na na na na na na na na na now
Dimma’s Given Up
Given Up, Dimma’s Given Up
Na na na na na na na na na na now
Dimma’s Given Up
Given Up, Dimma’s Given Up

Conca’s just pinged his hammy
Edwards has a broken collarbone
Grigg’s thumb, Townsend’s knocked out
My oh My

Na na na na na na na na na na now
Dimma’s Given Up
Given Up, Dimma’s Given Up
Na na na na na na na na na na now
Dimma’s Given Up
Given Up, Dimma’s Given Up

(REPEAT after musical interlude)

This is just a boring practice match
Got no meaning for our year
Dimma wants to call it
Off Right Now

Na na na na na na na na na na now
Dimma’s Given Up
Given Up, Dimma’s Given Up
Na na na na na na na na na na now
Dimma’s Given Up
Given Up, Dimma’s Given Up

No more players
That are fit to bring on
I want to go to Round 1 now
(given up given up hey Dimma’s, Given up)We don’t wanna risk our players
Come on AFL listen up
(given up given up hey Dimma’s, Given up)
WE don’t give a stuff about this practice match
Just go ahead and call it off
(given up given up hey Dimma’s, Given up)
Too many of our men are hurt
Don’t care about NAB 3 at all
(given up given up hey Dimma’s, Given up)
Blow the siren timekeeper
Or we’ll play with less than 18
(given up given up hey Dimma’s, Given up)
Rotation’s more important
but ending it is much preferred
(given up given up hey Dimma’s, Given up)

(FADE out to finish)
