Magnet (Galleries) – a community which welcomes you

Revellers at last night’s dinner with Gideon Haigh included Michal Silver and his partner Suzanne, and Col and Heather Bennett.

They are the inspiration behind Magnet. Conceptually, Magnet is from the same family as The Footy Almanac, except it tends to concentrate on photography. All people and their art are celebrated at Magnet which has a studio at 640 Bourke Street (Level 2). It really is worth having a look at their website, or better still, wandering in. Magnet is about bringing people together and Michael and Col are very welcoming. Have your lunch there. They’ll make you a cuppa.

Magnet also hosts events – and are very accommodating.

Poet, artist, photographer and director of Manning Clark House, Judith Crispin’s new book of poetry is being launched his Friday. All welcome.
