I think in 2014 or 13 Great Scot mag did an update article on 100 Scotch boys who had played VFL/AFL, could be worth tracking down

As at the end of the 2017 season, 173 Scotch boys have played at least one Senior game in the VFL (now AFL) competition since 1897.
