autumn leaves falling over one another for the ball
sun teasing us
Swan in and out
of the game
lull in play
the sound of rain
on the grandstand
autumn rain –
the ball dribbles through
for a goal
stop start rain
we get our noses in front
then fall behind
sky clears
a run of goals
breaks the game open
still sparkling
from the rain, Elliot
bobs up again
falling into
his shadow
the tired ruck man
MCG dusk…
Elliot marks at the top
of Gabbo’s run
About rob scott

Delightful HB. Even if the game was played at Etihad you could have talked about the rain.
