Haiku Bob- Round 20: breaking up

waxing moon
a narrow defeat
looms large

on again off again
just like us we hit the front
and fall behind

discussing divorce
our early lead
evaporates

clouds breaking up
our makeshift back six
collapses

last gasp defeat
I remember the sound
of my bones breaking

a miraculous comeback
falls short, my daughter asks
what’s an atheist?

love and hate
tattooed on the outcome
of the final siren
