Haiku Bob – Round 16: ghost gum

narrow lead the night moves closer

ghost gum

the full-forward

goalless

night deepens

finding it hard to find

the ball

two goals seven

in a half

winter lingers

sudden downpour

one goal after

another

another defeat

I wonder if my daughter believes

in me

evidence

of how hard I took this loss

poetry books in my bed
