From the Members: Announcing the MCC’s initiative for writers

The Footy Almanac has been working with the MCC to establish a new writing platform for MCC members. It’s starting life as From the Members. However that name may change in the first few weeks.

The good news is that it went live this morning with pieces by two Almanac contributors who are MCC members: Andrew Fithall and Shannon Gill.

The idea is to have MCC members tell their own ‘membership story’ by using the vehicle of a match report. In that way it is like the Almanac, but with an MCC flavour.

I will be editing the site, which is open to the public. Whether you are a member or not, as an MCG lover and sports lover, you will find the stories interesting I trust.

If you are an MCC member and would like to write something, let me know. [I can hear Phil Dimitriades sharpening his pencil in Preston from here]

It’s explained further here at the From the Members home page.

We are delighted to be working with one of the world’s great sporting clubs based at one of the world’s greatest stadiums (I can’t bring myself to write stadia).

  1. Oh Crikey – where am I to lodge my written words? Is my primary allegiance to the Alamanac,or the Reserve? Am I an Almanacker, or a (Country) Member? How do I resolve this problem? I am feeling all Devo-esque licking one bone, then the other.

  2. As long as your pearls of wisdom are read. Will be calling on you at some stage. No doubt there will be some cross-fertilisation.
