Footy Station

Hi fellow footy fans

2SER, a long running Sydney based community radio station, is looking for volunteers to host a Sunday morning footy talk show.

The aim is to get 3 people as the core presenters and establish a team of 5-6 extras who can provide content as well as step in when the one of the core has other obligations. I’ve put my hand up as one of the core team and figured where else am I likely to find serious footy fanatics, The Almanac of course!

The station is looking to give the show a distinct Sydney/NSW flavour with a particular focus (or is that bias?) on the Swans and Giants.

No radio experience is necessary; all relevant legal, safety and technology training will be provided. Enthusiasm and a genuine love of the game are the key ingredients in making this show a success.

Please mail me if you’re interested and we’ll take it from there.

For more on 2SER’s vision, history and values see here.

Thanks

  1. Great to learn that footy will soon be back on 2 SER!

With former 2GB radio presenter Kevin “Kay Tee” Taylor as host, I was on the panel with Craig Davis and Balmain stalwart Simon Kelly back in the late 80s/early 90s in a program called Focus on Football that focussed on the Sydney competition.

A lot of fun, but early mornings to get into the studios on the 326th floor of the UTS Tower Building on Broadway.

Thanks Tony. The program manager hasn’t firmed anything up yet but I’ll post an update on this piece when I know more.

Doc – interesting bit of history. I worked at UTS for a while so I remember when the station was on level 27. They’ve got themselves more comformatble digs on Broadway now.
